Last week brought some of our lovely monthly moments at Breathe.

Justine hosted her first Hot Yin to a full class and very “warm” feedback 🔥 She’ll be back on 26/3 – if you love slow, deep, stretchy stillness in the heat, that’s your date.

Mairead guided our monthly Soundbath – always such a special space to land.
Next Soundbath: 12th April 🎶

In Yoga, we explored shoulder strength through Wild Thing and its variations. Strong, open, brave hearts.

And it was weights week in Pilates… which, as always, quietly turns up the intensity. Those small movements? Not so small when you add resistance.

Thank you to the 8 wonderful souls who joined me last night for our first Hot Yin Yoga together.
Yin is a special practice, it invites us to slow down and feel from the inside out - a rarity in the fast paced world we live in. Travelling inwards is not always easy, and it is not always comfortable but it is how we grow 🧠🧘🏻‍♀️

Our next monthly Hot Yin Yoga is on Thursday 26th March, 8pm.

✨ PREGNANCY YOGA ✨

Tomorrow at 3pm, I’m back in the studio for our pregnancy class 🤍

In this class we begin with the breath to settle in, we move through a floor sequence, and once we are up, we’re up! We move through a standing flow and then spend the final minutes resting in restorative poses ☯️
This class has been carefully created so that anyone from 14 weeks up until full term can practice!

Never done yoga? No problem! This is a space just for you to connect to your own strength and resilience - I’d love to see you there.

WEEKLY ROUNDUP & WEEK AHEAD 🤍

We now run 37 classes across 7 days, and last week you filled almost every single one. I’ll never tire of thanking you for supporting Breathe the way you do. It genuinely means the world.

Sunday also saw Aimee’s very first Pilates x Strength class and the feedback has been unreal. Safe to say… we’ll be doing that again.



WEEK AHEAD

We know getting into classes right now is like the proverbial hen’s teeth 🐔
But there are a few little windows of availability:

• Tuesday 9.30am – Hatha Yoga
• Wednesday 9.30am – Hatha Yoga
• Wednesday 7.35pm – Hot Pilates

If you can shuffle things around (we know… that inconvenient thing called work 😅), these are your best chances this week.

Sunday Reformer – small timetable change:
This one’s on me. No 11.35am this week, but an earlier 8.25am instead. Thank you for bearing with my moment! 🤯

Thank you to everyone who made it on their mat this week 🙏🏻

We had a lot of new faces join our Tuesday beginners class and have kept on returning! I love getting to know new people and share this wonderful practice of yoga 🤲🏻 it is a PRACTICE so the more you turn up on your mat, the more your body and mind will respond 😌✨

I waved off a few expectants mum to be’s too, so there are plenty of spaces in our Sunday pregnancy yoga class - please, if you are pregnant, come and give it a go. You dont ever have had to practice yoga before and the sequence we do together is suitable for anyone from 14 weeks right up to full term! 💛

Especially if there’s a waitlist! Plz cancel if you can’t come - makes a space for someone else 🤗🙏🏻

A gentle but important reminder 🤍

Over the past few weeks we’ve had a noticeable increase in last-minute cancellations and refund requests, including messages late at night for next-day classes. As much as we’d love to help everyone, Breathe isn’t a 24-hour operation and we simply can’t manage changes outside of our stated policy.

We do have a clear cancellation policy, and here’s why it exists:

• Fairness
Whether it’s 10 minutes or 10 hours after the 24-hour cut-off, we have to apply the same rule. If we bend it for some, it becomes unfair to others and the policy loses its purpose.

• Rising costs
Like many small businesses in our local area, we’re facing significant increases in business rates, rent, energy and running costs. You’ve seen your own gas and electricity rise-ours have too. We also haven’t increased our class prices in four years.

• Supporting our teachers
We choose to pay our teachers an above-average rate because they do an incredible job. When cancellations happen late, it’s very unlikely we can fill that space, especially in Reformer classes. That income is still needed to pay them.

You may feel this is a “you” problem, not a “me” problem. But in reality, this policy is one of the things that protects our small business and allows us to keep the studio open.

We truly believe 24 hours is a fair and reasonable cancellation window.

Please know that when we decline a refund or credit request, it isn’t because we don’t care. It’s because we have to treat everyone equally to stay sustainable.

Our cancellation policy is shared:
• at the time of booking
• in your confirmation email
• and again in your reminder email

That’s three opportunities to check the terms you’re agreeing to.

I’ll be honest-my stomach churns when I write posts like this, and yes, it may raise eyebrows or even lose us a few followers. But today alone we had five last-minute cancellations, and it simply isn’t something we can absorb as a small studio.

Dunfermline has so many great wee independant businesses - and i try my absolute best to support them!!
Yeaterday when i was wondering around the town I noticed a new second hand book shop Twice Told Tales so obviously i HAD to have a look.
I have been looking for the full set of Harry Potters for YEARS! ⚡️ but i never wanted to just buy them online 🤷🏻‍♀️ So you can imagine how happy I was to find them here!
If you like books or coffee OR BOTH - have a wander into this wee shop 📚☕️

Due to the huge popularity of our monthly Hot Yin with Marissa (currently booked three months in advance!), we’re adding another cosy Hot Yin to the timetable.

What is Yin Yoga?
Yin is slow, deep and beautifully grounding. Postures are held for longer, allowing you to gently stretch the deeper connective tissues – fascia, ligaments and joints – helping to improve flexibility, mobility and circulation. It’s also incredibly calming for the nervous system, making it perfect if you feel stressed, wired or tired but can’t switch off.

Why Hot Yin?
Practising Yin in a warm room (heated with infrared lights) allows the body to soften more easily, so you can melt into stretches without forcing. The heat encourages deeper release, helps muscles relax, supports joint health and leaves you feeling lighter, looser and deeply relaxed.

And don’t worry – it’s not as hot as our Hot Yoga or Hot Pilates classes. Think gentle, cosy warmth, the perfect temperature to stretch, breathe and fully unwind.

Expect bolsters, blankets, slow music, long holds and that post-class feeling of being completely relaxed & reset 🩶
