Olivia McGrath Occupational Therapist

Olivia McGrath Occupational Therapist Making Sense Of Things Together. I’m 46, an Occupational Therapist, wife and mother. I have come to develop this practice late in my career.

I’m married to Frankie and live in Coalisland with our 3 children and 2 dogs, who are more like children to me! I worked in the mental health field for 17 years supporting people with mental health issues such as Depression, Anxiety, and Suicidal Ideation. Through my recent professional experience in the Trauma and Attachment fields including the Sensory Integration and Sensory Attachment Approaches I have come to understand mental health issues on a deeper neurodevelopmental, sensory and systemic level. I can see now how earlier intervention with the right knowledge and supports, could prevent the rise in mental health problems in our society. I could have done more for my children earlier in their lives to support their development, if I had the information I have now. This has spurred me on to open this vital service to the public and make this information and treatment available to more parents, teachers and health professionals working with children and adolescents. My vision is to empower children and their families with the information they need to make a meaningful and lasting difference to their lives. Whatever is going on for you, I am here to help you ‘Make SENSE of it’. To find out more about my reasons why please check out my website for more info. www.oliviamcgrath.co.uk

Hello everyone

Thank you so such for the huge interest in the sensory equipment.
I received literally hundreds of messages and am delighted to say everything has been sold.
There have been new homes found for everything.

I’m selling off a load of play equipment and excellent sensory toys as I have closed my sensory room.
I’m now a cross border travelling O.T 😂

Put music on and dance, get messy, go outside, rough and tumble, allow the sofa get destroyed, make tents out of blankets, put a tractor tyre swing on a good strong tree and spin to your hearts content 🌪️
But remember - let the kids join in too 😂😂😂
Play is good for us all.
Let yourself be silly and carefree for 15 mins everyday
It’ll do you and your kids the world of good 🥰🥰🥰

HOW TO CREATE THE BEST CONDITIONS FOR PLAY AND THE BENEFITS FOR DEVELOPMENT

"Impairments to cognitive, language, emotional, and physical development have all been linked to a deficit in play."

Children who have experienced a very tough start to life need us to understand, care and support them through their Trauma. Sensory Attachment Intervention is one of those approaches which really help us Make Sense of Things Together.
