NHS APP - Prescription Workflow

You can see the status of your NHS APP requested Repeat Prescription Request within the NHS APP. When the GP has prescribed your medication the dispensing process can commence

In the case of Edlesborough Dispensary (Dispensing Patients) the dispensing process will commence the working day after the medication has been prescribed.

In the case of Pharmacies (Non-Dispensing Patients) once the prescription has been approved it will be sent to them electronically for dispense.

In either the Dispensing or Non-Dispensing scenarios this can be seen from within the NHS APP.

The images here show (1) 'Waiting for GP approval' which occurs after you submit your request & (2) 'Prescribed' meaning that the request has been approved & dispensing can commence.

Workflow
- Open NHS APP
- scroll down to 'your health' section & select 'View & Manage Prescriptions'
- scroll down & select 'Your Approved Prescriptions' to view their status

NHS APP NOTIFICATIONS please configure to ON

Please ensure that the NHS APP Notifications settings are set to "ON" to ensure that you receive information directly via the APP (a 'one-stop-shop'). IF you have not viewed your NHS APP message it will eventually timeout (current settings are 3 hours) and be delivered according to the method it was sent from the surgery (eMail or SMS).

IF your NHS APP Notification settings are set to OFF the messages sent from the surgery (by eMail or SMS) will be recieved via that method. The same information will be available on the NHS APP however, you will not receive a notification.

For details on how to change your NHS APP Notification settings see:

What we use notifications for in the NHS App, and how to turn them on or off.

Repeat Prescriptions – Making It Easier for Everyone

If you have a repeat prescription with several items, the easiest and most efficient way to manage it is to order all your medication together once a month, rather than requesting individual items as you need them.

Why does this help?
• It reduces the number of approvals your clinician needs to make.
• It speeds up the dispensing process, whether through our dispensary or a pharmacy.
• It helps keep costs down for the NHS and avoids unnecessary delays.

If you use the NHS App, you’ll receive a confirmation when your clinician has approved your prescription for dispensing.

Tip for those who pay for prescriptions: If you regularly need one or more items each month, an NHS Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC) could save you money. For example, the current annual PPC costs £114.50 (check the website for updates). That works out at about £9.54 per month if you have at least one item — compared to the standard charge of £9.90 per item.

Find out more here: NHS PPC Information

A PPC could save you money if you pay for your NHS prescriptions. The certificate covers all your NHS prescriptions for a set price. You will save money if you need more than 3 items in 3 months, or 11 items in 12 months. The prescription charge in England is £9.90. A PPC costs:

ADVANCE NOTIFICATION ONLINE TRIAGE SYSTEM SURVEY - survey invites have started to be sent.

The source of the survey will be from an Email address "no-reply.accurx?.net" (where ? is a number typically 3).

The surgery will be publishing to every patient that has an eMail address associated with their care record a survey form to gather their feedback regarding their experience before & after patient traige was introduced (July-2024). It is possible that you may receive multiple invites if your eMail address is included on multiple patient records.

Since the number of patients to be sent the link to the survey is large the messages will be staggered. We anticipate all the survey messages will be sent out by end-of-December. The message will be sent by eMail (and may appear in the NHS APP). The form title is "Edlesborough & Pitstone Surgeries Patient Feedback: Online Triage System"

Please take the opportunity to provide feedback about our patient triage system. We would anticipate it will take between 5 & 10 minutes to complete the survey.

Please do NOT include any personal information in your reply.

We anticipate being able to publish the results early in the new year (2026) once we have a suitable sample size of results.

For those patients WITHOUT an eMail they can access the survey here:
