“This time last year, I was heartbroken, grieving, and in the darkest place with my body and mindset. I was the heaviest I’d ever been, had just lost my third baby, and felt like my body had failed me. I was done feeling sad and angry - and knew something had to change.”
That’s when Emma joined us here at fitness chicks - starting with one class a week.
Emma said she was ILL at the thought of joining a gym - but finding a small, female-only space brought her a sense of comfort.
Over time she built up the number of classes she was coming to weekly and began tracking her calories for the first time in her life.
Fast forward a year later, she’s now training 6x a week in between working 12 hours shifts as a nurse and being a mum to her boy Tommy.
Her results speak for themselves. There was no quick fix, no fancy programme, no magic trick. It was down to her showing up for herself everyday - making small, consistent changes to her lifestyle.
The hardest part for Emma? Rewiring her brain and her relationship with food, exercise and self-worth after years of toxic diet culture.
“But now, I do this for me - and for my wee boy, who cheers me on and thinks exercise is just a normal part of life. I’m obsessed with the influence it’s had on him.”
After losing 6 stone, Emma is now focusing more on performance goals. Strength training, following a structured programme, learning about the importance of taking diet breaks and training for a half marathon 🏃♀️🔐
Words can’t describe how proud we are of you Emma. Keep smashing it🩷
