Muscle knotting 🪢 also known as trigger points are areas of tense muscle fibres that remain contracted even when the muscle is at rest. 😴
Pain can be referred to other parts of the body if the muscle is knotted.

💢Trigger points are painful when pressed on because the muscle fibres are shortened. 📏

Referred pain is when the trigger point is pressed causing pain in another area.

How do I prevent knotting from occurring?
- well poor posture, stress😓, injuries🩼, sedentary lifestyle (no exercise) and overuse of the muscles are all common causes of knotting. 🪢

Massage is a great treatment method to help align any knots or muscle tension you may have. Here’s how:
✅Massage helps with increasing blood flow and the circulation of nutrients and oxygen. This helps flush out any waste products to reduce muscle spasms.

✅ Deep tissue massage but trigger point therapy in particular helps break down scar tissue which may be a factor of the knots.

*scar tissue and adhesions are formed if there has been an injury. It’s the repair response state after an injury.

✅The two advantages above ^ all help with stiffness too which allows the muscle fibres to move more freely after massage.

✅Massage helps improve muscle function and range of motion. Muscle knotting causes the muscles function and range of motion to reduce slightly.
