Change of title at my employed work (bodifix being my self employed work) has come from developing my role beyond S&C.

The role now includes lifestyle reviews, communicating with external sports coaches, injury support and rehab, understanding and advising on fatigue (sleep, nutrition, volume of sport) and the load of life outside of sport.

The variety of athletes and sports (tennis, rugby, athletics, netball, hockey, cricket, cycling and triathlons, football, powerlifting) has made everyday a learning day!

Really enjoying working with Ultra distance runners for injury prevention and recovery.

With mixed surfaces, gradients and huge volume, the brain and body gets pushed to the max in a different way to sprinting or 5km, but oddly also remains exactly the same:.
🔵hit the floor hard on one foot
🔵need good foot contact
🔵need sufficient ankle/hip/mid back mobility.
🔵require a push forward at times (hills for the ultra and block start for sprinting)

Mobility issues, foot placement and strength reverse become very important factors.

The current 3 clients complete 50-100 miles events which is unbelievable.

Awesome weekend for and .

Whilst in GCSE year of school Grace continues to train as much is reasonable considering GCSEs are more important and is a huge drain.

Caitlin is developing amazingly well from a middle distance runner that was based in a “average speed” race to now needing to be powerful in a peak speed race, it’s so different.

Each have challenges that they are contending with and I’m a super proud coach to be on that journey! #200

Bodifix sprint group sessions held at eastbourne sports park.

This acceleration session used a training method called PAP.

Post Activation Potentiation

Works by highly stimulating/activating the brain, which is created by a high resistance effort (adding the band to a start). Then performing the same movement without resistance.

It attempts to teach/convince your brain is can produce more POWER!!

Effective if coached properly.

Youth Speed and S&C sessions available February school/college holiday. I’ve spent 2 years developing professional 90 minute sessions that educate, train and motivate.
Held in the Eastbourne College strength and conditioning gym, which is where I also work as head of strength and conditioning during term time.

These are not circuit training session nor crossfit! Designed for females and males, are beneficial for any sport that has contact with the floor. Gymnastics to netball, football to hockey and rugby to dance.

Using digital timing is the only way to measure improvement, identify which system (energy or neurological) needs further development and has high reliability.
Used in all distances and sports, having the ability to measure change of direction, acceleration and phases/splits of all distances makes it a huge tool for the bodifix services. This service can be hired as often as required.

Our Story

Bodifix has intergrated the most forward thinking stratergies to Indentify the reason for pain and injuries along with exercises to eliminate it. Head coach and owner Daniel Sheppard, suffered a severe back injury in 2006, which resulted in living with pain for over 6 months. This experience showed the impact injuries can have on day to day quality of life as well as exercise and sports performance. Realising pain should not be a part of life, he decided to dedicate himself to offering the skill and education used to recover himself, to benefit others. Since 2008 he has trained all types of exerciser ranging from complete beginner, to sports scholar, to county champions, to potential Para Olympian and British team members. By using exercises Bodifix encourages the brain to use the muscles currently not working effectively to reduce the strain on the injured area. By getting the brain to learn the better system, a long term strategy is created. Reviewing the body, using assessments that include: - Functional Movement Screening - Flexibilty Screening - Postural Analysis - Indepth Injury History - Daily movements - Exercise technique These assessments highlight dysfunction within the body and allows a specific approach to be used to improve them. These can be complete at the gym or at home depending on your results. Bodifix is not just for Athletes/sports people but anyone that suffers from repeat pain, injuries, tightness or poor/restricted movement. Whether your 16 or 86, you should move well and without pain or restriction. You will exeperince high quality assessments and training, that will also educate on the function and process of the body to leave you with a understnding of your development.
