Community Outreach East Sussex

Community Outreach East Sussex Community signposting resource aimed at 60+, their family, carers and anyone with poor health or disability in East Sussex.

This is a free independent community page that I update in my own time. There is no affilliation with any businesses, services, individuals or charities. I do not endorse or support any specific services but merely share relevant posts that I feel will contribute positively to the local community.

As we reach the middle of January, many of us can feel the weight of the winter blues as the days remain cold and dark. It is completely natural for energy and motivation to dip at this time of year, especially after the busy festive period. Please remember that brighter days are ahead, with longer daylight hours slowly returning and spring not too far away. For now, these tips can help 💜

January can feel long, cold, and quiet.

For many, that’s when things can feel hardest.

Sheds offer something simple but powerful — a place to turn up, have a cuppa, work alongside others, and feel part of something again.

The kettle’s always on.

You don’t need to talk about how you’re feeling.
You just need to show up.

👉 Find your local Shed
Or, if there isn’t one near you, we can help you set one up.

Keeping warm over the winter months can help to prevent colds, flu and more serious health problems such as heart attacks, strokes, pneumonia and depression.
Heat your home to a temperature that's comfortable for you - at least 18°C if you can.
You may be eligible for a free warm home check and advice. Visit our website for information:

For anyone interested in joining The Arts Society Eastbourne or coming along to a lecture as a guest here's a bit about us. We meet monthly at East Dean Village Hall. See our website (link is n the comments) for more details

We are a local charitable society, affiliated to the national Arts Society, serving Eastbourne and the surrounding areas. We promote the arts to the general public, mainly by running lectures, study days and trips covering a wide variety of arts-related subjects. We also support local arts-based charities, educational establishments and community groups.

We operate an annual membership, open to all, which gives members access to nine monthly lectures, our regular newsletter and the quarterly Arts Society magazine. We welcome all new members! Please contact Maggie on tasememsec@yahoo.com if you would like to join.

We also welcome visitors although due to space constraints in the hall we must limit the number of visitors at our monthly lectures, generally to a maximum of 5 per lecture. Priority will also be given to members for other space-limited events such as study days and trips. Therefore prebooking for non-members is essential - please contact Maggie on tasememsec@yahoo.com. We welcome anyone, subject always to space constraints and safety considerations. We do ask for a voluntary donation from non-members; we suggest £10 per lecture but you are free to give whatever you wish.

We always welcome feedback on the lectures and suggestions regarding future topics.
