Today is Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) Awareness Day đź’™
FND is a condition that affects how the brain and body send and receive signals, leading to very real and often misunderstood symptoms. By raising awareness, we can help reduce stigma, improve understanding, and support those living with FND.
At Bacon Lane Surgery, we stand with our patients and community in recognising the challenges of FND and the importance of compassionate care.
Let’s keep the conversation going—awareness leads to understanding, and understanding leads to better support.

Norovirus is a stomach bug that causes diarrhoea and vomiting.

The average number of patients in hospital with norovirus each day last week rose to over 1,000 for the first time this winter.

It can spread very easily, but washing your hands frequently with soap and water is the best way to stop it spreading.

If you catch it, stay at home until two days after the symptoms stop. Don’t visit hospitals or care homes during this time.

đź’™Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month đź’™
Ovarian cancer is often called the “silent disease” but it doesn’t have to be. Knowing the signs can save lives.
⚠️ Know the symptoms:
• Persistent bloating
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Feeling full quickly
• Changes in urination
If these symptoms are new, frequent, and last more than 2 weeks, speak to a healthcare professional.
This month, we stand with everyone affected by ovarian cancer patients, survivors, families, and caregivers.
Let’s raise awareness, encourage early conversations, and support ongoing research.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month đź’›
At our GP surgery, we want to shine a light on Endometriosis — a condition that affects 1 in 10 women and people assigned female at birth, yet often takes years to diagnose.
Endometriosis is more than “just painful periods.” It can cause chronic pelvic pain, heavy periods, pain during s*x, fatigue, and can impact fertility and mental wellbeing.
If you’re experiencing symptoms that are affecting your daily life, please don’t suffer in silence. We’re here to listen, support, and help you access the care you need.
Early conversations matter. đź’›

Every February the UK marks National Heart Month.

It’s a campaign that raises awareness of a variety of health conditions directly related to cardiovascular disease, and promotes healthy living measures such as diet and exercise that can lower risks.

In the UK, someone dies from a heart or circulatory condition every three minutes. That’s almost 500 people every day, and almost 200,000 every year, so let’s raise awareness and help reduce this number.

Turning on NHS App notifications is a simple way to help the NHS save money while staying informed about your healthcare. đź’™

Notifications can remind you about appointments, test results, prescriptions and important updates, helping reduce missed appointments and unnecessary letters or texts.

Using the NHS App makes it easier to manage your health in one place, saves time for NHS services and helps resources be used where they are needed most. Making this small change can have a big impact for you and the NHS. 📱
