A traditional teaching story...

Two monks are travelling together when they come to a swollen river. There, a woman stood at the edge, unable to cross. One monk lifted her onto his back, carried her across, and set her down on the far bank. The monks continued on in silence.

Hours later, the second monk said "We are not permitted to touch women. Why did you carry her?"

The first monk replied "I put her down at the river. Why are you still carrying her?"
