Job Ref: MA GI- Personal Assistant (Permanent, Part-Time) – Edinburgh

Location: Near Edinburgh city centre
Hours: 12 noon – 5pm, Monday to Friday (up to 30 hours/week) + occasional Saturdays
Pay: £12.60 per hour
Contract: Permanent, long-term employment

About the Employer
I am a 41-year-old disabled man living near central Edinburgh. Due to medical issues, I am currently mostly housebound at the moment, but I enjoy getting out whenever possible – whether to a park, museum, or just for a drive. I’m also hoping to add swimming/hydrotherapy and gym visits as my health improves.

Despite my challenges, I have a positive outlook and sense of humour. My previous PA described this role as “an enjoyable, stress-free and varied position, where often no two days are the same.”

About the Role
This is a long-term, stable position with regular hours, suited to someone who enjoys variety. Tasks will depend on your skills and interests, but could include:
• Meal preparation & shopping
• Driving my Motability car
• Light housework, DIY & gardening
• Accompanying me to appointments and outings
• Assisting with physiotherapy and occasionally helping with a hoist transfer
• Offering company and support with setting up a small home-based business

There is truly little personal care involved (I already have carers for mornings and evenings).

About You
The ideal PA will be:
• Reliable and trustworthy
• Friendly with good communication skills
• Able to work independently and take initiative
• Punctual, fit, and healthy
· Flexible and committed to a long-term role
• Driving licence preferred but not essential

Hours & Pay
• Regular hours: 12 noon – 5pm, Monday to Friday (up to 30 hours/week)
• Rate: £12.60 per hour
• Occasional Saturdays: extra hours available by arrangement
• Job share option: possible for 2 people to split 10–15 hours each
