💕☕💕
Winter is a time of comfort, cosiness and warmth.

At Randolph Hill, we make sure our residents have everything they need for the colder months, from blankets to a flow of hot drinks.
But we also love when families and friends bring in little touches to make their rooms even cosier.
Whether it’s a soft jumper or a favourite blanket, these items spark memories, smiles and help residents settle into their rooms.
Winter is best enjoyed with warmth so consider bringing a little something with you to help your loved one feel more comfortable this winter.

Patricia White celebrated her 103rd birthday on 10th December!

Patricia was born in Kent in 1922. During the war Patricia joined the WRNS as a teleprinter and was stationed in Orkney. It was there she met her husband who was in the Navy. Patricia was a keen artist and writer, and has always been creative enjoying amateur dramatics, including writing and producing pantomimes. She also enjoyed growing fruit and vegetables, not to mention breeding donkeys; Joshua being her favourite as he was so cheeky!
Patricia has also had several children's books published.

Patricia moved to Randolph Hill, Dunblane, in 2022 where she celebrated her 100th birthday.

Patricia has always used this quote "Live a full life, so you've got lots of memories for when you can't do it anymore." Our team so enjoyed adding to these memories celebrating your special birthday with you, Patricia!

Tea Cup is a student graduation film from MetFilm London dedicated to those who are affected by memory-related illnesses.

Randolph Hill are proud to be in association with the students making this film. If you too would like to be involved, please follow the link below.

Too often, these experiences happen behind closed doors, without the visibility or understanding they deserve. The film is inspired by real experiences and aims to bring attention to the significant gap in how dementia and other memory-related illnesses are portrayed in film and television, particularly from the perspective of loved ones who are expected to adapt to a new normal while mourning someone who is still physically present.

The film follows Emily, who is torn between honouring her promise to keep her mother, Margaret, who has frontotemporal dementia, at home and the growing realisation that specialised care may be the only way to keep her truly safe.
Emily is doing her best to care for her mother, whose illness causes her to move in and out of clarity, leaving both women navigating moments of tenderness and heartbreak. While Emily tries to balance this with the growing pressures of her work at her law firm, Margaret clings to memories of her late husband, believing he is still alive and waiting for him to return. Emily quietly tries to guide her toward accepting more support, but Margaret’s fear of being taken from her home makes every conversation painful.

The film is dedicated to those who are not defined by a diagnosis; love and life continue on. When memory fades, love spills stronger.

We are a group of MetFilm London students working on our MA graduation film, Tea Cup, a short film about a devoted daughter navigating the emotional and practical realities of caring for a parent with advancing Frontotemporal dementia.

❄️ Winter wellness tips ❄️
Shorter days and colder weather can make it tempting to stay indoors and become less active but it’s important, especially as you get older, to make sure you’re still working your body and brain to stay fit and healthy.
Regular movement and eating well can help boost your immune system and energy levels which is essential during the winter months.
At Randolph Hill, we make sure our residents are taking part in social activities, indoor exercises and are getting out and about when they can.
The most important things to remember during this season are:
❄️ Hydration – make sure to drink lots of water
❄️ Nutrition – eat a balanced diet of protein, fruits and vegetables to nourish your body
❄️ Movement – stay active, even if it’s walking around your home or seated exercises
❄️ Mental stimulation – activities such as knitting, painting, quizzes and puzzles can be a fun and relaxing way to keep your mind active

And what a year it’s been. 2025 was filled with new memories, friends and additions to our wonderful team.
We’re privileged to be spending this Hogmanay with your loved ones, hearing stories of their past New Year celebrations and making new memories with them.
We’re very grateful for our big, extended family here at Randolph Hill and we can’t wait to see what the next year brings.
