We are delighted to inform you that Redhall was able to secure the majority of its funding following the decision of the EIJB and can remain open🎉 We would like to say a huge thank you to each and every person who supported our cause by signing the Thrive petition and by contacting their local MPs/ MSPs and Councillors; we have been overwhelmed by the support we have received and are truly grateful.
We will continue our task to raise funds for our amazing garden to ensure we have the finances to sustain its future.
This summer, we campaigned to prevent the closure of Redhall Walled Garden following proposed funding cuts.
Today, we received confirmation from the Edinburgh Integrated Joint Board (EIJB) that the decision to cut Redhall’s funding has been overturned. Redhall will remain open — a huge relief — but like many community mental health services across Edinburgh, it will still face a significant funding reduction.
Reacting to the news, our Chief Executive Billy Watson said:
"We are in a mental health crisis, and community and preventative mental health support is an essential part of how we tackle it. We welcome the IJB's decision not to go ahead with the original proposals which would have effectively ended that support in Edinburgh. However, we are disappointed that a number of impactful support and advocacy services have been cut.
"This process has shown that we need to come together - funders, providers and especially the people who need this support - to jointly design a mental health system that works for and meets the needs of the people of Edinburgh."
If you signed our petition, attended a bake sale, or contacted your local representative, thank you! Your support helped us put pressure on the EIJB and protect this vital service.
We’ll continue to take action to ensure services like Redhall Walled Garden can support everyone who needs them.
