She's only gone and done it! Our wonderful volunteer Anna has been fundraising to keep our trauma-informed yoga class in collaboration with the Edinburgh Old Town Development Trust and has just reached her target of £2000. An enormous thank you to all of you who supported Anna in raising this money. The classes will now be able to continue for another year and for this we are so grateful.

🧘‍♀️ Yin Out is Back – and You're Invited! 🧘‍♂️
Support Edinburgh Community Yoga this October

We’re thrilled to announce the return of our much-loved fundraising event:
✨ Yin Out with Norman Blair & Nadine Watton
📅 Friday 10 October 2025
🕕 6:00–8:00pm
📍 Walpole Hall, St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh

Our past Yin Out sessions in 2023 and 2024 brought together 50+ yogis each time—and helped raise over £1,300 to fund community yoga projects. This year, we're doing it again—this time to support our Move, Relax, Chat chair-based yoga class for older adults at The Gyle, led by the wonderful Frankie and Ali. 💛

This class has become a real lifeline for its participants—and it’s so popular, there’s a waitlist! Your support will help keep it going strong.

🌙 What is Yin Yoga?
A deeply restful, floor-based practice where poses are held for several minutes to encourage stillness, stretch connective tissue, and soothe the nervous system. It’s a space to pause, soften, and reconnect—with yourself and others.

✨ Meet Your Teachers:
🧘‍♂️ Norman Blair – one of the UK’s leading Yin yoga teachers, teaching since 2003.
🧘‍♀️ Nadine Watton – a seasoned teacher with a wealth of experience in Yin and Restorative yoga.

Come for the calm, stay for the community. 💫
All funds raised go directly to supporting inclusive yoga across Edinburgh.

In February 2023 and April 2024, over 50 yogis came together at each “Yin Out” to breathe, stretch, and support our work—and thanks to that amazing energy, our last event raised £1,380 to help fund our yoga programs in Craigmillar. 🙌

This time, all proceeds will go directly to supporting our Yoga on Social Prescription class, Move, Relax, Chat, a chair-based yoga class for older adults at The Gyle, led by the brilliant Frankie and Ali. This much-loved class is so popular it’s waitlisted—and we’re determined to keep it going strong! 💛

🌙 Yin yoga offers deep rest and reflection through floor-based postures held for several minutes. It’s a chance to slow down, soften, and reconnect—with yourself and with others.

✨ About your teachers:
🧘‍♂️ Norman Blair – one of the UK’s most experienced Yin yoga teachers, teaching since 2003.
🧘‍♀️ Nadine Watton – a devoted teacher of Yin and Restorative yoga since 2000.

Come along, unwind, and support a good cause. Let’s Yin together—for community, connection, and care. 💫

🌿 A Big Thank You to Morton of Pitmilly! 🌿

In August 2024, our team came together for a much-needed staff wellbeing weekend at the truly gorgeous Morton of Pitmilly Countryside Resort—and yes, it was sooo lovely! 💚

But the magic didn’t stop there...

We’re beyond grateful to Morton of Pitmilly for their incredibly generous £1,500 donation towards our Yoga on Social Prescription class in Methil. Thanks to their support, we can keep this vital class running in Leven, in partnership with Airlie Medical Practice.

This class is more than just yoga—it’s a lifeline for many in the community. And it simply wouldn’t be possible without this kind of heartfelt backing. 🙏

Thank you, , for supporting wellbeing in every sense of the word.

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Anna Young – Championing Community Yoga 🌟

At Edinburgh Community Yoga, we’re incredibly lucky to have volunteers like Anna Young, whose dedication and heart truly embody what community yoga is all about. 💛

After completing her 200-hour teacher training in 2023, Anna has been deepening her understanding of how yoga can support both personal wellbeing and stronger, more connected communities. She’s passionate about making yoga accessible, inclusive, and rooted in its true traditions—always creating a space where people feel safe, welcome, and seen. 🧘‍♀️✨

Since the start of the year, Anna’s been assisting our Gentle Yoga: Mindfulness and Movement class at The Crannie Community Hub (in partnership with Edinburgh Old Town Development Trust). When long-term funding fell through, Anna didn’t hesitate—she started fundraising herself to keep the class going! 🙌

“I’ve witnessed the positive impact this class has—people feel safe, comfortable, and part of a community. Raising £2,000 would allow us to continue for another year. It’s been a privilege to witness the benefits—and feel them myself.”

Anna, we couldn’t be more grateful for your spirit and leadership. You inspire us every week. 💫
