Swim season over!

Goals
Loch Tay: 3k under 60mins ✅
Loch Lomond: 5k between 90-100mins ✅

So I set another of attempting 10k in loch morlich. I felt good from training but sometimes it just ain’t your day and today was that.

Unfortunately in openwater-swimming when it’s not going to plan, it’s over. Completed 3k and called it a day in 12’ water!

As always, I will go correct a few things and the 10k will come next year!

But another great weekend exploring with the family! 💚

Last taper swim before my last event (maybe) of the year this Saturday.

Couple of days refuelling, carb loading and resting then up to Aviemore with family.

The one thing I love about swim events is the scenery! Scotlands lochs are immense. Takes away from the difficulty of task at hand!

We both know it’s time for cake! 🧁 💚

5k Loch Lomond

26th out of 85! 1hour 37mins. Which was in middle of target so I will take it.

My favourite things about these events is travelling around and living like Nomads with the family! Eating pizza and seeing Scotland. 💚

Was great seeing my mate Geoff in the water smashing his first swim! Can’t bully you to much about swimming now.

This Saturday will be my final swim of the year, and next week I’ll be starting a structured 12-week training block, broken into two focused 6-week cycles.

The objectives are simple yet effective: move well, feel strong, and achieve results that show.

My programme includes:
• 4 gym sessions per week
• 45–60 minutes per session

I’m now opening spots for online group coaching, where you can follow along with my full training plan. This is delivered via an app directed to you.

There will also be sample nutrition support, WhatsApp group chat and catch up calls for those in need of a little extra help.

If you’re interested, send me a message and I’ll share a complimentary sample workout to get you started.

Underprepared, under the weather but under 60mins!

Great event at Loch Tay:

Maximise Your Time!

Bodyweight training has been a staple in my routine for as long as I can remember. As a busy dad it’s helped me a lot in maintaining strength and fitness when getting to the gym wasn’t an option .
Mastering the fundamentals:

• Press-ups
• Pull-ups
• Squats
• Dips

— means you can train anytime, anywhere.

Don’t underestimate the power of the basics—they build strength, resilience, and consistency like nothing else.

Back to School: My Personal Insight

Every year, I’m met with comments like, “So good they’re back!” and every year I laugh and nod — politely agreeing on the outside, while inside I’m feeling something very different.

The truth is, I love having my kids at home. I love giving them the space to relax, free from the constraints of school.

When school is in session, my anxiety never really switches off. I’m constantly wondering if they have the accessibility they need, knowing they’ll find the days tough and exhausting — and that we’ll need to unpack it all later in the safe space of home.

I watch them walk out of school each day knowing that the learning will have to be revisited at home, step by step. We are always measuring milestones, aware that there’s more work ahead, preparing for the battles still to come in the years ahead.

This isn’t about who has it harder. All parents face challenges. This is simply my reality as a parent of children with access needs.

So, if you’re another parent who quietly finds “back to school” a difficult time and just nods along politely — know this: you’re not alone. There are many of us quietly feeling the same way.

Hello,

I have had 3 new followers in the last 3 years so thought I would introduce myself again….hi it’s me, Mike! This is not a travel journal page! 😂

But in all honesty, I have neglected my social media account. I only ever wanted to put up content that I thought people would enjoy and be helpful. But It’s so low on my agenda that I never do it and then I overthink it.

So I am now going to try and put up more regular training, nutrition and wellbeing content which will hopefully help someone. Just simply showing how a busy working dad keeps himself in average shape.

By the way….fitness and training isn’t that hard…people just make it out like that. Getting In shape can be pretty straight forward.

Australia 🇦🇺 so far!
Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, sunsets, sunrises, beaches, surfers paradise, Australia Zoo, migrating whales, AFL games, Rugby league games, sea world, Bluey’s house, Numinbah Valley, waterfalls, gloworms, baby chickens, horse riding…it’s been amazing

But especially seeing Uncle Gary and Aunt Kristy for first time. Spending time with my brother for first time in 12 years has been pretty awesome too.

So many pictures it’s hard to choose and show how amazing it’s been.

And for those worried about the flights with kids, don’t! were amazing.
