Across Scotland, 830,000 households are expected to be in fuel poverty by the end of 2025 and many people don’t recognise when they’ve crossed that line.

Anne didn’t. She was selling her belongings to stay warm because she didn’t know she had rights, options or someone who could guide her through the support she was entitled to.

The National Advice and Support Service steps in to help people stabilise their situation through benefits advice, grants and practical support.

This week is Addiction Awareness Week and we need to talk about substance use and mental health.

Almost 3 in 4 people in Scotland attending drug and alcohol support services have ongoing mental health concerns.

We can't sweep mental health struggles under the rug. We need to address the problems from the root cause.

As well as tackling substance use as a nation, it's time to encourage talking openly about mental health. It's not just helpful, it's essential.

Melissa and Dony organised a huge community day in Alness last August, raising funds for our transformational support that once helped them.

They've lost five siblings to su***de between the two of them, walking through the grief journey together, and navigating the many complex emotions and feelings.

Wanting to give back, the community day tackled stigma and encouraged open conversations, with family activities, food stalls, comedy and Highland dancing!

The duo, and the team behind organising the fundraiser, visited our Invergordon resource centre to learn more about the breadth of services we provide in Ross-shire and beyond.

They presented a cheque of £4,152, which will be used towards supporting more people in the community in ways that work best for them.

Thank you, Melissa and Dony. You know where we are if you need us 💙

In Scotland, men are falling through the cracks and we never examine how those cracks form.

Men are told “it’s okay to talk” yet boys grow up without emotional language, offering almost no early touchpoints in schools, healthcare and workplaces.

If we want men to open up and access help early, the environment around them needs to open up first. We can't expect different outcomes without change.

🔗 We have published a new insights piece on why there needs to be a greater spotlight on men's mental health and why it needs to change. Click the link in the comments.

We will support more men in Dumfries thanks to a group of fundraisers who walked for their friend Leroy, who died by su***de this year.

Davie, Tina, Scott, Paul, Steve and Clint raised over £13,000 for Change Mental Health by walking 120 miles across Dumfries and Galloway.

They wanted to ensure that this money would support men through different activities, including gardening and fishing – the latter being Leroy’s favourite activity.

Our team in Dumfries have started upgrading a local allotment for a gardening club, which is already taking shape. A fishing club is already in its early stages and both activities will be co-created by our team and people supported in the community.

We can't wait to share more about the progress of these clubs in the months ahead 👨‍🌾🎣

Did you know that one in two unpaid carers in Scotland say that one of their biggest challenges is not knowing what help is available or how to access it?

3 in 5 people are likely to become a carer at some point in their lives. Carers tell us that when they know their rights and use their rights, they can ask the questions that help them find support, even when time or understanding are in short supply.

This is why we created two key resources:
📖 Carers Information Book, to understand your rights and how to navigate caring responsibilities.
📖 A Menu of Questions for Carers, in collaboration with Carers Trust Scotland, offering a simple framework to guide conversations, while ensuring your views and wellbeing are part of the care process.

🔗 Links to both documents can be found in the comments.

When Mike lost the people who made joy possible, his world became grey and dull.

It was support like our Resilience service that helped him show that life is meaningful, helping him take small, steady steps to lighten the load and get back into a routine.

This International Men’s Day, we want every man and boy to have someone beside them, so they never have to face any moments alone.

The internet connects and inspires but being a young person today means living between two worlds: the online and the offline.

This International Students’ Day, we asked Edinburgh College students to share what helps them stay balanced and protect their mental health in a world that never logs off.

Their voices show that young people understand what supports and harms their mental health. Even in a world that can feel chaotic or overwhelming, they recognise that balance is possible. It can be found by not just switching off completely, but in learning when to pause, connect and care for themselves with intention.

It's not hard to feel the effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) after the clock changes.

Reduced sunlight increases chances of social withdrawal and fatigue. That's why it's so important to get outside during that daytime window for some natural light and air. Stay active and social, and maintain a consistent routine of doing the things you enjoy.

🧠 University of Glasgow developed resources on how to tackle SAD called 'Wintering Well' and 'Living Life to the Full'

💬 Tell us in the comments how you combat feelings and symptoms of SAD in the winter months.

Some of Stafford Centre's finest artists made their way to this year's Out Of Sight Out Of Mind Exhibition at Edinburgh's Summerhall to view their work on display 🎨

They got to see the extent of their awe-inspiring creativity, from poems to visuals replicating their home life. One of the biggest pieces came from someone who is supported within the Signature Project: a colourful chair and stool called Maude 'the Rocker'.

Here are people who were told they couldn't do art or weren't good at it many years ago. Now, their impressive pieces are being exhibited. That community non-clinical and person-centred support has brought out who they really are: talented individuals!
