It was great to host Roy Lawrence from Fife Health and Social Care Partnership recently 🤝

He left inspired by the community mental health services we provide across Fife that reduce stigma and support hundreds every year. This is all delivered by a transformational team making a huge, tangible difference to many!

A visit full of hope and humanity

Roy Lawrence, Head of Culture, Engagement and Communities, recently spent time with the incredible team at Change Mental Health in Levenmouth—and left inspired.

From one-to-one support and group sessions to creative projects like a community magazine and a popular Air Fryer course, the team is making a real difference for people facing mental health challenges—and for the carers who support them. Their approach is all about meeting people where they are and helping them feel truly seen.

Big thanks to Susan, Heather, Lee, Lynn, and Barry for the warm welcome and for showing us what compassion in action looks like.

Our Carer Support service isn’t just 'kind hearts'.

It brings compassion but also structure: linking people, building bridges across services, learning from one another and ensuring carers have every resource they need.

Care on its own is never enough — carers deserve systems that work.

A new research briefing from The Scottish Parliament Information Centre (SPICe) highlights that men’s mental health needs stronger action.

Su***de is still the leading cause of death for men under 50, while many men don’t reach out for support. Stigma, silence and cultural expectations remain barriers.

Policy and culture must shift so that men can seek help, to get the support they need and when they need it.

The transition from barracks to civilian life is not borne by the veteran alone. Families and friends are often part of the process, but they are often unprepared.

Our new service in Angus offers them what they have long lacked: recognition, a safe space to talk, and early, practical support from people who understand both military and civilian life.

Read our new insight piece and learn how we are changing the story for carers of veterans and veterans themselves 👇

Who says fundraising can’t come with an engine roar? 🏍️

Morriattis Bar and Kitchen has partnered with Change Mental Health for their monthly bike nights at Arbroath Harbour. September’s event brought together riders, families and supporters for a night of energy and community spirit.

Today's data from National Records of Scotland has revealed 704 probable su***des in 2024, a 11% decrease from the previous year.

While we welcome this reduction, there is still a lot more to do in Scotland.

Nick Ward, CEO at Change Mental Health, said:

“Today’s news of an 11% decrease in the numbers of probable su***des in Scotland is good news.

“That number represents dozens of people still alive today who might not have been in years past. This is a testament to the incredible work happening on su***de prevention across Scotland.

“We should celebrate but we also must remember that there is still a lot more to do.

“Far too many people still take their lives by su***de and every death in this way is a preventable tragedy. We need to remember the impact that such deaths can have on friends, families and communities.

“There needs to be continued funding and support for Scotland’s su***de prevention strategy, of which Change Mental Health is proud to be one of the outcome leads for, and we must ensure that people get the support they need, when they need it and in a way which works for them.”
