My dog's vet once told me that a labrardor will cross several blocks to find an old fish and chip paper with a few cold chips in it. I will travel great distances to do biodanza. What is Biodanza ? Literally, the name translates as dance of life and that is what it aims to be. Whilst we say 'dance', biodanza uses a mixture of dance and exercises most of which musically based. Dance takes many forms. Many have steps to learn, etiquette, expected clothing etc. Biodanza has few rules and few steps. Come with an open heart and prepared to change/growth in an organic way in a safe, non judgemental environment. For a man with two left feet, a lack of cordination and what my children consisdered bad taste in trousers, it was a breath of fresh air. It has taught me many things. The importance of being in feedback with myself and others, The value of human contact and the joy of building relationships with people irrespecitive of age, ability and ethnicity. In the biodanza world, language is never a barrier. I have been doing biodanza since October 2016. My first session was on a beach in Spain. There was no english translation. I simply watched the demos and joined in. It changed my life and helped me change the life of others by simply taking part. I have been training to be a facilitator/teacher of biodanza and I have been able to take classes since 2022. My partner Ela is based In Poland so these classes have taken place in Gydnia. Doing classes where you cannot speak the language has been challenging but very rewarding. In 2025, I hope to qualify as a biodanza facilitator and look forward to working in Scotland and beyond.
