On and Off the Bike: George Shares the Benefits of Massage for Cyclists
The 2025 time trial season has officially kicked off, and our Clinical Massage Therapist George Shanley was right there on the start line at the VTTA British National 10 Mile Time Trial Championship in Irvine. 🚴 💪
The Veterans Time Trials Association (VTTA) promotes time trialling for cyclists aged 40 and over. With cycling—especially time trials—growing in popularity, the VTTA makes competition accessible and fair by using a unique handicapping system based on age. It’s a great way for seasoned riders to stay competitive and challenge themselves on a level playing field.
As both a therapist and a rider, George knows firsthand the power of massage for cyclists:
🔹 Speeds up muscle recovery
🔹 Reduces pain, soreness & tightness
🔹 Boosts flexibility and circulation
🔹 Helps prevent injury by improving muscle balance
🔹 Supports long-term physical health and performance
Whether you’re training, racing, or just out for the joy of riding, regular massage can keep you in shape to ride longer and feel stronger.
Book in with George at Stockbridge, Colinton or The Burgess and feel the difference for yourself.
