On leaving today’s service, guests were asked to pick up these wee keepsakes.

A huge turn out for an outstanding gentleman who was well loved and deeply respected. 🌹

Spending a lot of time at Warriston these days I’ve got to know Derek the site fox who I see nearly every time I’m there. He sits beside families as they enter the venue, yawns away to himself in a very relaxed manner and is very approachable and friendly.

A nice distraction that brings a wee smile to everyone. Going to take some proper food next time rather than feeding him Kinder chocolate strips. 🙈🦊♥️

Writing the eulogy or the story of someone’s life following a meeting where the family have provided you with information, emotion and nuance is a privilege. It takes time, thought and a desire to reflect the feelings of the family accurately & in a way that is authentic and true.

To receive such feedback after providing a draft copy of the upcoming service gives me with the confidence to deliver a eulogy that tells their story in a way that the family and guests will relate to.

New year greetings.

In the words of committal & final farewell during my services, in part, I read the following words on behalf of the family;

“You are in our hearts, our minds, and we’ll carry you with us as we move forward with our lives.

When we walk this earth we walk it with you. You leave us with the strength and pride to do what is good and right and your memory will guide us just as you did when you were at our side.”

May all the families that I have conducted services for be able to move into the new year with that comforting thought in mind.

Best wishes for 2026.

Craig ♥️

After conducting a service for a beautiful lady earlier today It was requested that I change into a maroon tie for the next service. One for a huge Hearts fan. I opted for this tie from my choice of 20. ♥️🇱🇻

Good afternoon. I wanted to write a short summation of my last few months working as a brand new celebrant.

Since May I have had the privilege of leading 26 services. I’ve met some outstanding families and it has been a privilege to hear their stories and to put these into writing in a way that adds colour, warmth and feeling. Also, working with some lovely people in the funeral service - funeral directors, arrangers and venue staff. It’s been good to surround myself with very kind, caring and considerate people.

Some observations - I am struck by human beings need for ceremony, something that hadn’t occurred to me before taking on this role. An observance or commemoration to mark occasions - a set of circumstances and rituals if you like, to help us process and bring closure & a degree of acceptance to a situation.

That is where it has been an honour to provide this service in a way that the family desire. Not through traditional means or religious rituals necessarily but through whatever brings meaning to them & to their loved ones. A tailored, personal and deeply meaningful ceremony.

And finally - life is fleeting & short. Doing this job brings it home to you all the more. So, enjoy the life you have, treasure every moment, create memories and live life to the fullest extent possible, whatever that means for you personally.

Happy festive season! 🎄

🌹I have been asked to read this poem at an upcoming service and I’ve never heard it before. It is a sobering reminder of what truly matters in life - how we spend it, who we spend it with and how we treat others.

Love this…
