Everyone moves at different paces. It is easy to feel that the constant change occurring around us is overwhelming, that we are being left behind. But our journey is more valuable than our destination. Just as no two journeys are the same, no individual stories are the same. You may not be where you want to be today, but if you work to take the right steps, you will be closer than you were yesterday. 👟👟👟

Jonny Wilkinson is one of the most decorated and recognisable faces in rugby history. Jonny scored 1,246 points from 97 Test appearances, the most famous being his drop goal that won the World Cup for England in 2003.

In a stellar career Jonny would accumulate four Six Nations titles with England and at club level he left Newcastle after helping them to Premiership and Powergen Cup titles and joined RC Toulon winning the Top 14 and European Cup.
But Jonny’s public success is only part of his story. He speaks frankly and inspiringly about the pressure of expectation and the mental health implications of leading a life defined by others.

Such a great episode 😀😀 if you want to listen, you can find it here:

Meet our new PT!!! 🤩

“I firmly believe that exercise is a small component of the holistic sphere of health and well-being. As a fitness instructor, I advocate for exercise to be utilised as stress and anxiety management tool, particularly during this current period in time!
I have always used exercise to de stress and move my body in a way that makes me feel good; working in mental health services in the NHS, means I rely on exercise, whether this be a home workout, a walk, or a gentle stretch, to help me wind down at the end of the day.
I like to integrate training and experiences from my MSc in Psychology of Mental Health, and my professional to encourage mindful practices to my clients.
I became involved with EHF when I was a masters student at the University of Edinburgh and loved being involved with the community. I am really excited to continue working in partnership with EHF as a fitness instructor, providing students with an affordable way to access personalised training programmes and stress/anxiety management tools!”

If you haven’t already make sure you book your slots for the 1:1 consultations on Tuesday🦋

Rebrand Alert: 🚨

Due to COVID-19, we can no longer run EHF as we would have liked. So we have decided to take a different approach to things, still providing the same services but putting the focus primarily on everyone’s wellbeing as we know this isn’t an easy time to be a student!

As a society, we are committed to making your time at Edinburgh as fun as possible even throughout the pandemic!! Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for some exciting things to come. 🥳🥳🥳

Love,

EHF x
