Last month we had the lovely Judith from local fashion boutique Rosypenguin in to choose her latest set of frames. Find out about the new appeal from CHAS
This month we were delighted to support a new appeal from (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) with a donation from our charity fund. It’s very much in its infancy, so we also wanted to help raise awareness of the appeal as we know many of our patients have supported the wonderful charity in the past.

Their invaluable hospice, Rachel House, is nearly 30 years old. Since Rachel House opened, the care it provides has become more complex and the building has aged. So improving the building will mean the charity can continue to care for children and families long into the future.
The redesigned building will have:
• Much larger children's bedrooms with ensuites and garden access
• A pool that everyone can enjoy
• A suite with linked bedrooms where families can stay together
• A reception with covered drop off
• A warm living and dining room
• Incredible play spaces including sensory room, art and activity room
• TV and gaming
• Beautiful outdoor spaces that are accessible to all.

Rami Okasha, chief executive of CHAS, said: “This is a huge project for us and one we haven’t taken on lightly. We want to transform end-of-life care for children and their families in Scotland. While Rachel House has served hundreds of families well until now, to deliver the high-level care required long into the future we need to upgrade and rebuild.

“CHAS gives unwavering care to children who may die young, and their families, at every step on the hardest of journeys. Rebuilding Rachel House will cost £17 million and is part of getting that right. No one should face the death of their child alone and to be successful we are once again asking for donors to get on board and help raise the millions of pounds that will make a difference every day for families dealing with the unimaginable reality of loving and caring for a child who will die young.”

Rolf eyewear wins top design award!

One of our newer brands Rolf. were recognised at the Red Dot Awards this year, winning both the Product Design and Sustainable Design categories! The Wire collection from the Austrian brand are 3D printed and also feature Rolf’s patented Flexlock hinge. The brand also has 100% green electricity so not just the materials used are sustainable, but the production process is too.

Could light therapy help your dry eyes?
At our Tear Clinic we offer numerous treatments to help the chronic condition known as ocular surface disease. As we come to the end of Glaucoma Awareness Week, we just wanted to highlight the support available to those living with glaucoma. Glaucoma UK provides a huge range of services including aids to help apply drops and a 'buddy system' for people undergoing treatments. Terrific in theo eyewear 💜
We love choosing frames with Heather - it often ends up being a team effort as we all chip in with our thoughts! This time Heather went for this gorgeous frame from quirky Belgian brand Theo. Model Obus is here in a deep purple, a soft rounded shape with a flat top to balance out the curves. We all agreed this was a great one for Heather, who is no stranger to colour, but wanted something a little more muted for day to day wear 🙌

Our mini Madrid adventure
This month, Alexandra and Heather went to Madrid with the contact lens manufacturer

They visited their laboratory and saw how their contact lenses are custom made for each patient using diamond cut lathes, they also got an insight in their meticulous quality control procedures and learned about new products they're working on.

At Cameron Optometry, we work with a huge number of contact lens manufacturers, depending on our patient’s needs. Mark’ennovy is especially good for custom fit lenses and complex, high prescriptions so many of our patients would be lost without these specialist lenses.
