Facebook told me today it’s the 2-year birthday for my business page, which makes it about 26 months since my original page was hacked.

That was quite a morning when I woke up on holiday in Paphos, to discover what had been my funeral celebrant page, was now some sort of Chinese gaming site.

However as well as bringing back that shiver down my spine as I woke up that morning, having just decided to try and do more on my page rather than just having it sit there, it gives me a good excuse for another post.

Why not help me celebrate, by giving my page and this post a follow and share.

Happy birthday page!!

Working alongside Burgess Funeral Directors, Ellon a few weeks ago, I led a Funeral Service which was held in Beaton Hall Methlick before heading up to the new Methlick Cemetery to complete the service, on what was as you'll see from the photo a lovely day.

It was the first time I’d been to Hall, and it is a lovely building. The folk who ran it were very helpful, and it’s obviously a very important local building, well used, and very well maintained.

The service was for a well-known local man and was well attended, with about 190 seated in the main hall, with some more seating available in the overlooking balcony.

Even the flowers, created by Elegant Blooms which the family had arranged for the day, were very bespoke to the gentleman’s trade, so they were unusual and affa bonny, all resulting in a lovely send off for the gentleman.

A few weeks ago I conducted another funeral service in the Ellon Parish Church which is always a lovely local venue. This celebration of life was for a lovely lady who I had worked with previously, following the passing of another family member, so it was quite the privilege to be asked to lead her service too.

She had such a lovely story to tell, and in this instance, several members of the family also took part, and what made the celebration even more memorable was the family arranged for a horse and carriage to convey her from the church to the nearby Ellon Cemetery, making her final journey spectacular.

The carriage and horses were supplied by McIndoe Carriages, and it really was a magnificent sight. The team from McIndoe were excellent, and so professional, and although the picture is one I just pinched from the FB page, rather than from this particular day, I think it gives an idea of what they can offer.

Another absolute privilege to work with a wonderful family, as well as all the others who were involved in the service, G.Burgess Funeralcare, Ellon, McIndoe Horse Drawn Carriages, Ellon Parish Church, https://www.facebook.com/FriendsOfEllonCemetery,

A few days ago I was privileged to lead a Memorial Service for the mum of a lovely family at Ellon Parish Church, and having had the opportunity to make some decisions about her own celebration of life, the lady had decided she wanted live classical music greeting family and friends as they arrived, and again as they departed.

This music was played on cello and violin by Gavin and Erin, two of Nova String Quartet and it was wonderful, so if you know of anyone considering live classical music for any event, I'd thoroughly recommend getting in touch with them.

Having ignored my work socials for far too long, and having recieved the message in the link below, on the back of a service I delivered last week, I thought I'd take the opportunity to get back on your feeds.

Over the last very busy year, I have become totally focused on funeral services and have been fortunate enough, even privileged, to have been trusted will delivering a final farewell to many.

Most I have never met before, and those In circumstances these families open their doors to tell me about their loved ones, while often being open with their grief. They often say, I made this process easier than they thought it would be, and they found it a relief from the circumstances they found themselves in by reminiscing about the person they lost for an hour or two.

There have also been several families I have worked with before, even those I have known personally, each providing a unique opportunity to tell someones life story.

There have been those taken far too early in life, to those who have reached their centenary years. Some have served the public all their lives, others heavily involved in charity work, some who are well known figures in their communities, even some who have been involved in inventions that have changed many lives.

Each one, from those who have led what we would perhaps call a normal life, to those with extraodinary tales to tell, every single one is different and I am proud and honoured to be able to have led the celebrations to all their lives

Theres worse ways of spending an hour or so between a service and a family meeting. Picnic in the car and a wee walk. And if you look closely youll see some young lads with the 'suns oot, taps aff' policy having a dip. Mad I thought its only 5 degrees, then I remebered Billy Connolys story, 'get in there ya big jessie' lol.
