Sophie M England

Sophie M England My mission is to create beautiful wedding and fashion illustrations. E-mail info@sophiemengland.com Surface Design and Printed Textiles Graduate 2013.

Sophie has always had a passion for fashion illustration, she was given a stencil sketchbook when she was little and used to love creating different combinations, adding glitter and going crazy with the numerous different outfits! She studied Art and Design at college where her 2 biggest inspirations were flowers (following in her Gran’s footsteps!) and using mixed media to make fashion art. At university she studied surface design and printed textiles where her main focus was creating patterns with florals, focusing on the delicacy of linework and pops of colour. A few years after graduating she reignited her passion for fashion illustrating. Initially through abstract sketches (known as ‘little ladies’) and has now developed into her own style to create bespoke illustrations of the wedding party, bride and groom and guests.

The story of how I became a live fashion illustrator ✍🏼

It’s clear as day how perfect a job it is for me. I am obsessed with illustration fashion, love the adrenaline of illustrating quickly, and what more of a special place to be able to do this than weddings & elevating events ✨

The course mentioned was . I remember so well I was on holiday with Nathan, visiting the Eden project in Cornwall, when I saw this course go live. I was going back and forth on the idea but Nathan fully supported me to just go for it…and I’m so glad I did 🤍

It literally makes my heart happy to be able to say “I’m a fashion illustrator” 🥹

Go on then, here’s my 2016!

I thiiink this was the year I quit working at Maison Blanc in Burford to go and pack medical equipment ready for the medics deployment! It was an interesting job but being stuck in a hangar all day ticking off numbers wasn’t quite for me, as much as I loved being a part of something important!

First image is my first order that was sent over to the states or Canada!

I moved out into my own little annex 🙌🏼

Took for a trip to Oxford (please don’t hate me for sharing this without your permission 🫣) look how young we were!!

Even working with weddings back in the day, I had a fair few bridal commissions I was working on, as well as developing a print/card range.

It’s crazy looking back at how far I’ve come over the past 10 years, from serving coffees & counting medical equipment to being self employed being a fashion illustrator 🥹

In December we worked a magical event in London, to protect the privacy of the company we were asked not to take any photographs. Of course during the event we only took the reference photos of the guests for me to draw from, however it all looked incredible so as you can imagine our hearts wanted to share all with you but we of course take our word seriously and did not photograph anything from the event.

We did however take a few selfies with our drinks and a couple of gorgeous London architecture ♥️

Oh and a screenshot of angel numbers 😇

Selfridges clients- on the Beauty Haul opening evening I illustrated guests to give them a momento, as well as being part of the entertainment for the instore event. I illustrated for 2.5 hours, although I managed to illustrate a fair few (with Georgina’s help on photos!) there were still some I didn’t have time for. As this is never an issue, I can always illustrate the remaining guests at home, and send back for you to distribute 🩷

My social media has changed a little recently as I’m trying to be more open and vulnerable with you, taking you with me on my journey as a full time illustrator ✍🏼

Last week I started a challenge to illustrate in public as this is something I’m so conscious of. Just because I’m holiday shouldn’t mean that stops! It only means it’s hotter and more palm trees…oh and it might be wine or a cocktail instead 🍷

This week I’ve definitely realised I just need to draw more. Something has always told me but I’ve always had it at the bottom of my list. Thinking the business admin needs to come first. Well, this year things need to change.

Follow my journey as I better myself as an artist, and make my illustrating a priority 💯

The moment Annabel realised Dan had booked me for their wedding 🤍

I first met Dan & Annabel at a feast night at Ivy Lodge where they both loved the idea of having fashion illustrations at their wedding. Unfortunately Dan wasn’t sold on the idea…well that’s what he’d told Annabel. Meanwhile we’d had a conversation going over their day, and how he would love to book me to surprise his fiancé!! Of course I was thrilled to be taking part.

Dan booked me for the full day package which included a watercolour painting, framed and gifted on the day.

It was one of the most beautiful weddings I’d been a part of!

Thank you so much for capturing these moments- the gallery is absolutely gorgeous!!
