Keep Your Dog Safe This Easter
Easter is a great time for family, fun...and treats!
But while we're enjoying chocolate eggs and sweet treats, it's important to remember that many of these can be dangerous for our dogs.
π« Chocolate is toxic to dogs- even small amounts can cause vomiting, restlessness, or more serious issues. The darker the chocolate, the more dangerous it isπ«
β οΈ Watch out for other hidden risks:
β’ Raisins and grapes (in hot cross buns)
β’ Xylitol: a sweetener is sugar free treats
β’ Foil wrappers and packaging
β’ Rich fatty foods that can cause an upset tummy
β’ Lilies: beautiful flowers but toxic to our dogs
π Top tips to keep your dog safe:
β
Keep all treats well out of your dog's reach
β
Remind children not to share chocolate with dogs
β
Use safe, dog-friendly treats instead
β
Provide enrichment (snuffle mats, chews, training games) to keep your dog entertained
π‘Remember- your dog doesn't know it's a "special occasion"- they just know that everything smells delicious
If you think your dog has eaten something they shouldn't have, contact your vet immediately
Have a safe and happy Easter
