Our fabulously successful Claire …being told she couldn’t lose weight didn’t stop her reaching her target weight!!!😁👏
“You won’t be able to lose weight with your Thyroid condition, perimenopausal symptoms and age!”
These were all reasons Claire was told that losing weight would be almost impossible…that didn’t stop her from joining Slimming World and LOSING WEIGHT to reach her goal weight 😁💕👏

Claire says, “My weight was constantly on my mind, leaving me feeling deeply unhappy. It became a vicious cycle: the more I disliked how I looked, the more I turned to food for comfort. I was slowly gaining weight, becoming increasingly unmotivated, and watching my clothes grow tighter—many no longer fit. I was shocked to discover I weighed over 12 stone!
Shortly after, I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid, which took months to bring under control. At the same time, I was experiencing the effects of peri-menopause. I felt hopeless, convinced I’d remain overweight for the rest of my life and continue to gain weight every year.
During a doctor’s appointment, I was told joining a weight-loss group would be a waste of money because, due to my condition, losing weight would be nearly impossible. The doctor also mentioned that my age and hormones would make it even harder. I left the appointment in tears, feeling utterly defeated.
Not long after, I saw that a local Slimming World group was meeting in my area. I’d joined similar groups before but never stuck with them for long and had never stayed for the meetings. This time, I decided I wouldn’t give up on myself—I deserved a chance to make a change.
I joined that night, and everyone was so kind and supportive. I even met another member with the same condition as me, and it was comforting to talk to someone who truly understood what I was going through. She had successfully lost weight, and her story was so inspiring—it gave me hope for the first time in a long while!
Ali, our consultant, was amazing—so encouraging and supportive. I committed to staying for the weekly meetings, and although my weight loss was slower than I would have liked, it was steady and moving in the right direction. The plan really works, I love that no food is off limits, and I haven’t had to give up anything! Most importantly, I felt in control, started enjoying food again, and felt fitter and healthier.
I’ve made some incredible friends in the group and genuinely look forward to going every week. We share tips, stories, and plenty of laughs, and I’m so grateful I didn’t give up on myself. I reached my target within 8 months, losing 1 ½ stone and felt amazing slipping into a size 12 fitted dress. It was a moment of pride and joy, knowing how far I had come and how much better I felt both physically and mentally.”
