Post Half Marathon Reflection 💭
Running has increasingly shifted from a personal and communal activity to a highly competitive pursuit, often overshadowing the simple joys it once offered. Races that were once about participation, camaraderie, and personal growth are now dominated by performance metrics, social media comparisons, and a constant push for faster times. I’ve noticed runners find themselves so focused on pace, placement, and personal records that they barely notice the crowd’s cheers, the beauty of the course, or the shared spirit of the event. In chasing the next achievement, the essence of running is often lost, along with the appreciation for those who line the streets to offer support, encouragement, and celebration.
The GWR gave me the perfect opportunity to drop running pride and appreciate the people around me ❤️ 🏃♂️
