MEET THE TEAM!

And it’s time for our last meet the team post which is featuring Keane!

Aware of Deaf Culture at an early age, Keane started learning BSL in 2005.

He began supporting Deaf individuals when he became qualified working at Deaf First, Oak Lodge School, London.

Keane has worked as a Communication Support Worker for over a decade and a teacher of Life Skills and ICT.

Keane’s love of Sign Language comes through in his communication style.

MEET THE TEAM!

It’s time to introduce you to another member of our small team of Communication Support Workers. And this week we’d like to introduce you to Sarah.

With a love of languages and a few Deaf friends, it was inevitable that Sarah began learning BSL.

She has worked as a Communication Support Worker for 12 years as well as a teacher of English and Maths to Deaf adults.

With a background in Admin, Sarah is also excellent at explaining paperwork for those that find English difficult to understand.

MEET THE TEAM!

As a new business, we think it’s really important to let you all know who we are and what we can do for you. So over the next few weeks we’ll be introducing you to our team, as well as highlighting some of the services we can offer.

And to kick it all off, we’d like to introduce you to Sam!

Sam first learned some BSL from his Grandma as a child while being homeschooled and it definitely gave him a desire to know more! He continued his learning as a teenager, and eventually taught a level 1 evening class as well.

When he met his wife, he was delighted to learn that she also knew BSL and he has been of great help supporting a Deaf family member of hers in attending appointments and helping him communicate with doctors and support workers. He is also happily teaching his 3 children BSL and they all love being around d/Deaf family and friends and being able to communicate with them.

Sam has been doing Communication Support work for over 15 years, working in a variety of settings and at varying events all over Devon.

His specialty would probably be in education settings, as he worked as a Teaching Assistant for several years and so is excellent in helping with communication at parents evenings & school events.

He has also supported Deaf individuals who are self-employed and receive Access to Work funding to enable them to communicate with their customers or clients.

We hope you enjoyed meeting Sam, and we look forward to sharing more with you over the coming weeks!
