✨ World Homelessness Day ✨
In our Women’s Peer Support Space, many of us know first-hand the realities of homelessness, temporary housing, or the uncertainty of emergency accommodation. Some are still experiencing homelessness, while others have recently moved into temporary or emergency housing, or into something more permanent.
The realities women face- stress, trauma, instability, lack of safety, disrupted sleep, constant uncertainty, and the impact on both mental and physical health - were openly recognised in this session.
From that shared understanding, we came together to create bags of much-needed items: not only for women in our group and wider community, but also for women to design and make for themselves, choosing what they need and want.
What mattered most wasn’t just the gift bags, but the way women shaped them for themselves and each other - choosing what felt right, what was needed, and what carried care. It was a reminder that dignity, choice, and compassion belong to everyone.
The remaining bags were shared with our partners at St Petrock's (Exeter) Ltd reaching more women through their group and carrying that connection a little further.
💬 “Homelessness can affect anyone at any time, and showing that there is support and compassion out there can make a difference to a person’s life.”
🌿 “In the end, all it takes is one small action, by one person. One at a time.” – Susan Cooper.
