Yesterday I came across this on the beach. Pretty sure it’s a shark egg, but happy to be corrected! It looked intact but was caught up in fishing line and entwined with all sorts. I managed to get it free after about 10 minutes 😅 and threw it back into the sea. I have no idea if I’ve saved a baby shark or not, but it felt like it was worth a shot.

Trying to help or rescuing animals has been something I’ve done since I was little. A little mouse (found on the road came to live in a shoebox in my bedroom for a few days before relocation to a lovely field!). I’ve rescued hedgehogs swimming (drowing!) in flood water, and many, many birds/chicks….even a newt once! (That I named Newt-on Faulkner 😆) before his release.

I love nature. I love animals. I believe with all of my heart that these two things need our care, love and advocacy. These are some of the values that I’m proud to live by.

Being in nature and around animals (especially my dogs) are the things that support my emotional well-being and sense of equanimity.

This is why I love getting out and sharing that experience with clients on walk & talk/eco therapy sessions.

So here’s to moving towards spring and getting outdoors as much as possible.

If you’re interested in sessions with me, or know someone who might be, please get in touch.

Calling all counsellors in Cornwall!

** An Invitation to Think, Reflect and Deepen Practice – Workshops with Mick Cooper **

Lifetime Therapy is pleased to be hosting two in-depth workshops with counsellor, researcher and writer Mick Cooper on 20th and 21st June 2026, in Truro, Cornwall.

Mick is widely known for his work in existential therapy, pluralistic practice and the therapeutic relationship. These workshops offer a rare opportunity to spend time engaging with ideas that go beyond technique and into the heart of what therapy is really about.

Across the two days, Mick will be running the following workshops:

** Existential Therapy **
This workshop explores the existential foundations of therapeutic work: questions of meaning, freedom, responsibility and uncertainty, and how we meet the givens of human life. The focus is on how these themes show up in the therapy room—not as abstract philosophy, but as lived experience, for both clients and practitioners.

** Goals in Therapy **
This workshop looks closely at the role of goals in therapy: how they are shaped, negotiated, resisted or avoided. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, Mick invites reflection on whose goals matter, when goals support the work, when they may limit it, and how to work collaboratively and ethically with clients’ intentions for therapy.

Both workshops are reflective, relational and grounded in practice. They are suited to counsellors, psychotherapists, trainees and anyone interested in the deeper questions that sit beneath therapeutic work.

** Booking **
Places can be booked directly through Lifetime Therapy’s website:

We’re really looking forward to welcoming Mick to Cornwall and to creating a thoughtful, engaged learning space over these two days in June.

Officially declaring myself a photographic genius 🤩!

Making the most of the sunshine today ahead of the rain tomorrow. Intentionally seeking things that feed my soul feels like a really good plan.

I hope you’re finding ways to keep some balance in your life as well.

Wishing you a restful Tuesday evening. Michelle

I took this photo last week whilst waiting for a client. It felt symbolic of a heavy going year, but somehow, finding the rainbows and continuing on.

Sometimes it all feels pretty heavy going. Finding glimmers and practising gratitude can really help when it all feels dark and overwhelming.

I wonder if this photo holds any meaning for you?

Just waiting for my client to arrive so thought I’d share the tranquility and beauty of this place with you.

Grabbing a much needed break in Dublin this weekend with my husband.

Delighted to have caught the Pride March - one of my favourite vibes on the planet. So many vital reasons why Pride is still completely necessary. I’m not going to go into them here. I loved seeing everybody showing up for themselves - and for each other. Just bloody brilliant 🌈🌈🌈

One of the ways we restore our souls when we get away is to visit galleries and museums. We saw the Chester Beatty collection at Dublin Castle which was mind-blowing - the collection was largely from the Far East and the Middle East - the richness, the cultural diversity and the history were both stunning and humbling. The dimly lit spaces (to protect the exhibits from light damage) are calm, quiet and reflective.

My husband just told me that going to galleries and exhibitions together when we travel is his favourite thing to do. That time spent together, pointing out things that fascinate us to each other and being able to recall them years later and remember how incredible they were - these are precious moments in our life together. And we don’t take them granted.

I’m not sure how peaceful and calming going to see Alanis Morrisette at Malahide Castle tonight is going to be?! I cannot wait!! My husband is being a very good sport and mustering any enthusiasm he can find to join me as I attempt to re-live my ‘teenager in the 90’s’ vibe. ‘Jagged Little Pill’ was a real ‘coming of age’ album for me. Having seen images of Alanis coming from Glasto on Friday - I’m not sure how she hasn’t changed one bit in the past 30 years and I’m barely recognisable as the same person 🤣. But you know - good for her!!

What’s the point of this post then?

The point is - we all need downtime and to do the things that are restorative for our minds, our bodies and our souls. If we feel able to connect with others, or with art/history/other cultures…what an enriching privilege that is.

Recently I had a client who was feeling really anxious, overwhelmed and disconnected. She described working nights routinely and relying on her phone for dopamine. I asked her what she used to do that she really enjoyed. Her thing was drawing.

In the past two weeks, she’s grabbed her art supplies and headed to the Peak District with a friend. We work online together and she has shared some of her artwork with me. It’s stunning. But that’s not the point. She is getting outside. Sitting in nature. And taking the time to draw it. And doing this with her friend.

She reports being calmer, less anxious and feeling more connected.

I wonder if there’s space in your life to get back to yourself in ways that feel meaningful for you?

Happy Sunday all. What are you going to do with it? 😊
