Sitting at the back of a church or chapel I hear many prayers, poems and blessings time and again.
Most are new to those attending the service but one constant is a prayer that has been with us it seems, forever.
Once taught in every school in the land it still resonates even if a person’s beliefs have changed and it is rare that I see people having to read the words from an Order Of Service.
The message is clear. Hoping for peace, forgiveness and the strength to resist those things that would hurt others.

Do you still remember the words or is this prayer now subject to the passage of time and soon to be forgotten?

Funeral Service Manager Kirsty Thomas will be putting her new leg to a real test on Father’s Day as she joins Funeral Arranger Teresa Thompson (and her crutches) on Gosport Golden Mile.

Both ladies are giving this measured Mile their best efforts as they aim to prove that disability is no barrier to being active. They also hope to raise money for GAFIRS inshore rescue whose volunteer crews rely on donations to enable them to keep us safe.

Fareham and Gosport Funeral Director Nick Carts Carter and his running club are helping event organisers Nice Work bring this annual event back for its 10th anniversary..

Funeralcare will soon become regulated which is welcomed by all of us who are passionate about providing the best possible care for those we look after and their families.
As part of this process, those funeral providers who don’t wish to be regulated will not be allowed to sell funeral plans. It’s so important that people who want to take the stress away from family can trust and believe that the product will be fit for purpose and a COOP funeral plan is exactly that.

There are many ways to say ‘Goodbye’ and sometimes it’s hard to find the exact words, those words that express exactly what you want to say. A poem can sometimes fill that void and there are many to choose from. A well written and personal eulogy can, with the right delivery, help you through a difficult day. A song however can be immensely powerful and it should not be underestimated in just how healing a well chosen tune can be.
At a recent service, I heard this song by Chris De Burgh and the lyrics clearly meant so much to everyone present. If you were to choose one song to have played at your funeral, what would you choose?

I occasionally work from our Havant branch of Funeralcare where our arranger Teresa Thompson takes donations on behalf of a local food bank.
The response from the local Havant community reaffirms faith in the human race and reminds us daily of the goodness out there.
