A big thank you to the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society for taking the time to talk to us about how they use our BVC industrial vacuum systems to keep 35028 Clan Line in top condition.

It was a pleasure spending the day in Battersea, seeing first-hand how our equipment helps with the tough job of smokebox cleaning and supports the ongoing preservation of this mainline icon.

Adapting BVC Systems to Your Space!

This AB08 exhauster has been built in a custom vertical configuration to help the customer make the best use of their available space. Because our BVC industrial vacuum systems are designed and manufactured in our Hampshire factory, we can adapt builds to meet specific site requirements.

We had a Year 10 work experience intern join us this week. She spent time in a range of departments, getting a hands-on insight into different areas of the business. Here’s a nice little piece she wrote on her week. Thank you for joining us and all the best for the future!

"For my work experience I decided to go to Quirepace as my Dad works there and I wanted to know a bit more of what he does. All of the departments I have worked in require a lot of intricate detail (especially engineering) for example how to organise their work and daily duties.

The most interesting/highlight of my week would probably be the engineering department as that is more closely linked to what I want to do after school.

The biggest takeaway from my work experience would have to be that you need patience and when things don’t go right you need to try and solve that problem and to communicate with people in your department to get the jobs done.

I am also proud to have gotten Graham to smile in this picture below (haha). Thank you Quirepace for working with me this week!"

Today, we bid farewell to a long-standing Quirepace employee, John Barthorpe. John has been with the company for 27 years in our sales department and is now embarking on a well-deserved retirement. We all wish him the best in his next adventure.

This incredible family-run business has been milling flour for five generations (soon to be six!), with roots stretching back to the 1800s.

A brilliant example of early engineering innovation, the Lamson cash ball system represents a legacy of smart, efficient design—one that Quirepace proudly continues to advance today.

During a recent visit to Beamish Museum, the Living Museum of the North, one of our team members came across a remarkable piece of our retail history with a preserved Lamson cash ball system.

Dating back to the early 1900s, these ingenious systems used overhead tracks and hollow wooden balls to carry cash and receipts from shop counters to a central cashier’s office. Designed to streamline transactions and allow sales staff to maximise time with their customers, they were a key innovation in retail before the introduction of pneumatic tube systems.
