Our residents in Poppy House had a wonderful time playing the Parachute game yesterday and testing their skills in some lively ball games. For those who preferred a quieter afternoon, there were peaceful one-to-one chats. We also took a lovely trip down memory lane, reminiscing about old Bathgate, remembering the shops that used to be there and the old time Market. 💛

This morning, our residents enjoyed a lively Monday Prize Bingo session, and this afternoon we continued the fun with Armchair Travel as we journeyed virtually to South America. 🌎

To bring the experience to life, residents took part in a sensory activity linked to our destination, tasting watermelon and handling a pineapple to explore its texture and weight. This was followed by a South America-themed quiz, before everyone chose snacks from the tuck shop in preparation for Monday Movie Afternoon. 🍉🍍

This week’s film of choice was Double Jeopardy, a lovely way to round off a busy and enjoyable day. 🎬

🎶 Crofthead Care Home presents a Country Night Fundraiser! 🤠
Join us for a fantastic country-themed evening with entertainment by Liz Clarke on Friday 15th May at Fauldhouse Miners Welfare Club.

🎟️ Tickets are just £5.00 per person
🕢 Doors open at 7.30pm till late
🎁 Enjoy our raffles and tombola stall
🌭 Hotdogs will be available to purchase on the night (Hotdogs are not included in the ticket price).

It’s set to be a great night of music, fun, and fundraising, so don’t miss out! 🤩

This morning the residents excitedly chose a horse for tomorrow's Grand National at Aintree whilst enjoying morning coffee. We also placed a bet for the Main Building and Poppy House. 🏇
The race starts at 4pm tomorrow, so keep your eyes fixed on the tv to catch the winner. Here's hoping Crofthead have chosen the best of the bunch.

The coffee morning participants also chose a song each, which included, The Bee Gees, Elvis, Rolling Stones and the favourite of today was " She Wears Red Feathers" by Guy Mitchell.

The kitchen team decorated our home- baking with green Grand National rosettes and the residents were supported to decorate the morning coffee tables with horse busts, green grass table covers with the addition of freshly cut hedging for the full sensory experience.

We even played the old theme tune to Grandstand. 🏇😊

Our residents at Poppy House enjoyed a wonderful pamper day this week. 💆‍♀️💅
They were treated to hairstyling, manicures, and soothing hand and foot massages, creating a relaxing and uplifting atmosphere.

The day continued with a fun Rice Krispie cake-making session, followed by cheerful conversations as residents reminisced about their younger years. It was a fantastic day filled with smiles, laughter, and shared memories. ❤️

Today's barge trip with the Seagull Trust Cruises - Ratho.
The resident's were taken on a scenic tour through the West Lothian countryside onto our starting destination in Ratho. Our driver, the fabulous Richard from Harry Ferguson Traveline coach hire, looked after everyone on our journey over into the Edinburgh Council area. 🙏

We sailed along the Union Canal, watching out for ducks, swans and moorhens. Everyone enjoyed a picnic created by our kitchen team and an abundance of tea/ coffee was provided by the barge crew.

Lots of waving to passers by on the tow path and delight at seeing, dogs and horses.
A wonderful day had by all. 😊

Residents gathered yesterday to begin creating the Summer Newsletter. Publication date chosen is June 1st. ☀️ Our series "Peter and Alice" continues and our resident is drafting the first few paragraphs of the continuing story, of life in a nursing home.

The tuck trolley made its rounds, the hairdresser created wonderful new coiffeurs and friends gathered together to sing and read magazines. The People's Friend is certainly a favourite. Sun was shining and songs were flowing as we collated the names for the Gardening Volunteers.

We were delighted to welcome Gunner the cavapoo who has been voted Pet of the Month by the Newsletter Group. 😊

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful Good Friday. The day began with a lovely coffee morning joined by Steven Sharp and a few players from Fauldhouse United Football Club 😃, a huge thank you to them for visiting and for the thoughtful Easter eggs they gifted to our residents. 🙏
Everyone enjoyed chatting with the team and sharing stories before rounding off the day with an afternoon of music and dancing, thanks to the fantastic entertainment provided by Irene! 🎶💃

Our residents have had a wonderfully busy few days celebrating Easter! 🌸🐰
They’ve been getting creative with Easter arts and crafts and even making their own chocolate bunnies. With the sunshine out, everyone enjoyed spending time in the garden soaking up the spring vibes.

Some residents took a lovely stroll to the local shops, while others enjoyed great group chats about everyday life or relaxed with a bit of pamper time. And of course, Penny the dog brought smiles all around during her visit! 🐶💛
