Leftovers can fast track you to a nutritious tasty mealtime in seconds😋.

When time is tight and you can’t get away from your desk for lunch
When your blood sugar levels have gone a bit wafty (technical term!) and you have to eat something RIGHT NOW! When you really can’t bring yourself to prepare a lunch for the day ahead. When you’re just trying to feed breakfast to the family and get out of the door on time (no mean feat!). Leftovers can provide the answer.

Last nights salads, veggies, beans and pulses thrown together with a drizzle of apple cider vinegar, with a little rye crunchy toast on the side 😋

Given we’re on the cusp of a new season, the children are back at school, it feels like a good time to reintroduce myself.

My name is Suzi and I’m a naturopathic Nutritionist.

I trained for three years at in London. Since qualifying, I have been practicing and supporting my clients both in my nutrition clinic and remotely for either face to face or virtual consultations.

For over 20 years, I have passionately believed that food is medicine. Food has the potential to proactively or reactively support the path to optimal health and wellness. We want to thrive and feel our best to enjoy our lives to the fullest, whatever that looks like for each of us.

Left over dinners make the best lunches 😋

One of my top tips as a nutritionist.. Cook once eat twice (or even 3 times).

Fastest way to an accessible healthy meal that’ll fill you up and nourish your body mind and spirit.

I love pre prepared roasted veggies
 last nights were sweet potatoes, peppers radishes and chunks of garlic. Added to some olives, salad and feta out the fridge and seconds later a nutrient dense yummy lunch.

Still absolutely buzzing from a session myself and the college’s very own in house nurse, ran yesterday on Nutrition, for a great bunch of year 12s at Brockhill Performing Arts College.

Felt so privileged to be able to talk to them about one of my biggest passions specifically, gut health - what factors influence our gut health, why is the gut is so important and all the things we have the power to do, to enhance our own gut health.

A great morning spent with many engaged and energetic young people wanting to know how they can take ownership of their health
 how to feel better, how to prepare more nutritious meals and even help educate their own families to join them on a journey of wellness đŸŒđŸ« 🍊

Nipped into the fruit and veg market on my way into clinic this morning and picked up this yummy juicy looking pineapple 🍍.

Not only are pineapples so tasty and an excellent addition to any breakfast, desert, snack etc, but they are packed with multiple health benefits and work hard for us when we consume them.

Pineapples are helpful for our immune systems given they support viral and bacterial infections and reduce inflammation as well as being fantastic for the gastrointestinal tract and digestion.

Pineapple contains bromelain, digestive enzymes that support the digestion of some proteins. Not only that, they are a great source of fiber which is beneficial to the gut micro biome.

These tropical fruits are a powerhouse of nutrition and can be a great addition to diet. However, some people can be allergic to it or it can interact with certain medications so good to to be mindful of this if that’s relevant to you 🍍

Gut health is one of my favourite areas of interest. After all, Hippocrates said, “all disease starts in the gut”. Consequently, it underpins virtually all my work I do as a Naturopathic Nutritionist with each client, whatever their symptoms.

Given my interest in gut health, it was so much fun to to take part in a fermentation and bone broth workshop yesterday morning, topped off with a lovely little fresh produce shop 😋

Pomegranates
 underrated do we think?

These nutrient dense powerhouses definitely come in small packages and are so easy to tuck away in the fridge ready to zhuzh up any sweet or savoury dish at any mealtime.

They were included in this really easy to make broccoli and mint salad which added such a delicious sweet taste to complement the greens 😋

The nutritional geeky bit 
 packed with vit A, C, K, folate, iron, calcium, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium and zinc, these middle eastern fruits are highly anti inflammatory, great for cardiovascular health, digestive health, anti carcinogenic and associated with improving insulin resistance.

What to watch 👀 
 check with your doctor if you take various medications such as warfarin, anti hypertensive or ace-inhibitor drugs to avoid any negative interactions.
