I specialise in working with people who have long term or recurrent pain. Treatment focuses on getting people back to doing the things they enjoy rather than just giving exercises. Hands on treatment includes manual therapy, acupuncture, ultrasound and cupping, which is currently fashionable with the celebs! I spent 6 years working in NHS pain management clinics working 1-1 and running group sessions and 6 week programmes which taught people skills such as mindfulness and yoga. I also do a lot of work with people who have multiple injuries after having been in car accidents and I've worked in private practice for many years, treating a whole range of conditions including sciatica, neck pain, tennis elbow and plantar fasciitis. I've been teaching yoga for 15 years and I also do some running so I get to treat my friends for no money! I did and MSc in pain management a few years ago and developed a smartphone app to help people work towards doing things that they are missing out on

There is an acupuncture technique for achilles pain which involves threading the needle along the tendon to promote healing and relieve pain

As a rule, acupuncture works on 80% of people. Of course it needs to be used in conjunction with exercise and modifying activity to avoid reinjury.
