Happy New Year friends!

This year I've decided to post the monthly blogs I usually send to my yogis as they are mainly about wellness and hope and other wee pieces of nonsense and philosophy which might be of interest and help to those in the outside world - remember you can always come and join in a class if ever you feel the urge!

Enjoy ! Tee x

January in Scotland has that stripped back honesty, bare branches, low light, shallowed shrubs, bony landscapes.

I took this photo of the moon last night with my camera phone. It's the last full moon of the year. We celebrated it in yoga class with moon salutation and a full moon nidra.

It occurred to me moon light is not gentle.
It is clear.
It shows what is finished, and what is frayed, what needs to be returned to the dark.

It kind of pours over you like cold milk, like truth.
Revealing stuff- things you’ve carried too far.
But sometimes strengths you didn’t know you had.

There's been a lot of fake news , fake truth over this past year.
Sometimes in the clear light of night you just have to shake it off ,
shake it off your shoulders like shaking frost off a branch, and just keep walking through.

Walking through the moonlight towards the truth, clarity and resolve, resolve to just keep walking through.

Artemesis Vulgaris , mother of herbs Old wounds- or Mugwart as it's commonly known has wonderful anti fungal , anti-inflammatory and anti microbial properties that can be used for skin conditions like athletes foot, sprains, bruises and headaches - also fantastic for womb cleansing - relaxes the nervous system and works for digestive issues as well as depression.

Just steep some fresh leaves in hot water for tea , or dry out and mix with sage and rosemary .

I love my chair yoga class - each week, a wee circle of warm and wonderful women gather - all from different paths, with different stories, but one shared breath.
We move gently, laugh freely, and honour ourselves with a bit of self care and yoga practice designed to increase flexibility, strength, mobility and positive mental health.
Our shoulders roll, our legs bend and extend, extend, our bodies soothe and mend
This is yoga that meets you where you are and welcomes you in.

It's a community class so you just turn up and Pay-what-you-can.
Tuesdays , Kinghorn Parish Church Hall 12.15-1.15pm
Open to all.

Here's a wee peek at what we do!

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Earlier this year I was lucky enough to be invited by Ceangal to lead some yoga and creative wellness sessions at the Celtic Wellness Retreat held at the breathtaking Loughcrew Estate which sits on a recognised Neolithic site in County Meath.

The Neolithic Cairns became a real focus for much of our practice including a beautiful site specific walk and meditation on the hills, but the Cailleach Visible Mending Workshop we did on the Saturday felt very special. Inspired by the folklore around this powerful hag of the hills, we stitched, sang and storied together - her spirit shaping the practice. I made a short film about it here. Have a watch:

Retreats are a wonderful way of nourishing and replenishing the mind any body - but this one just went that wee bit further. The land held us and the joy of working in such a soul-rich place was amplified by the beautiful beings who gathered there, including the wonderful Emily Naper - owner of the Estate whose warmth and spontaneity lit up the retreat - quite literally when she conjured an impromptu bonfire on the final night.

Earlier this year I was invited by Ceangal to lead yoga & wellness sessions on their Celtic Wellness Retreat at Loughcrew Estate in County Meath. This was a special place where, in the words of one of the participants 'souls met' and some beautiful yoga and meditation practice came together. The estate sits on the periphery of the Neolithic Cairns which became a focal point for research, exploration and meditation. The experience was joyful, nourishing and full of wonderful connection - with a fabulous impromptu gathering and singsong around a massive log fire on the final evening kindly provided by Emily Naper the Estate owner.

One of the highlights for me was the Cailleach Stitching Workshop - an exercise in visible mending inspired by the story of the Cailleach at Loughcrew. Here is a short film I made about this workshop.

and a wee nod and thanks to my friend and Irish author Tracey Fahey for wisdom, knowledge and discussion around this subject matter... your calling her forth has definitely sparked my hearth!😃

My Flu Bru!

I always take this in November for about a week or so - or whenever I feel a bit under the weather .

It's a turmeric&ginger based recipe that really does help ward off evil bugs and viruses because it is high in anti- inflammatory and anti- dioxants and it's very easy to make !

Also good for dem bones!

Ingredients:

2 limes - chopped up into 16 pieces
3cm piece of ginger chopped
a good sprinkling of ground black pepper
(very important to get the spices
coagulating)
1 tsp of turmeric
1/2 litre of water (or green tea if preferred)

Method:

Add all the above ingredients into a pot,
bring to the boil and boil covered for 5-7
mins
Strain the liquid into a jug - and pour
yourself a cup (add honey to sweeten if preferred)

Stick the remainder in the fridge when cooled
and heat a cup up each morning

Enjoy! ☺️ 🕉️💚🔥
