Nonsense ways people try to lose fat

- Eating at the "right time"
- Cutting out carbs
- Cutting out fat
- Thinking junk food alone is to blame
- Eating fewer meals but not fewer calories
- Increasing protein but not reducing calories
- Increasing sleep & not reducing calories

Snacking on chocolate is fine in moderation as long as you account for it. You can still make choices though.

For those on plant based diets. This is worth considering. Just because something is labelled as "vegan/plant based" doesn't automatically confer "healthy/cruelty free"

Highly processed foods, regardless of animal produce content are more likely to be full of fats, sugars, salts and artificial products less beneficial to health.

Hers some things you stop doing if you are trying to lose fat.

1. Hours of cardio
2. Avoiding carbs
3. Taking fat burner pills
4. Doing crunches
5. Doing juices/cleanses/detoxes
6. Fat burning workouts.
7. Starving yourself.

Instead:

1. Be in a slight calorie deficit
2. Find an activity you enjoy
3. Ensure your diet is as high quality as you can - limit processed foods as much as possible.
4. Hydrate
5. Consistently apply items 1-4

Dieting doesn't need to be boring, bland, expensive or difficult. Everything was bought from Lidl, and cost under ยฃ2 a portion.

I'm sorry to say but this is really bad advice by the NHS. A severely restricted diet to get down to a healthier weight in this fashion is *not* healthy. The vast majority will relapse. It teaches nothing about making healthy choices that can be sustained for life. Juice/smoothie/soup diets tend to leave people hungry - as it doesnโ€™t take into account hunger hormones. And with that kind of calorie restriction your body will be screaming at you for nutrients.

There are better, longer lasting more sustainable ways.
