NEW LOCATION ANNOUNCEMENT🗣️

Fleet, Hampshire

Where?? Elvetham Heath Community Centre

When?? THURSDAY 9th January 2025
7pm - 9pm

We are committed to providing a safe, non judgmental and confidential space for men to talk, listen and share their experiences with their mental health issues and concerns.

We are incredibly proud of our fantastic team who are working endlessly behind closed doors to get these new venues opening up around the south west , the real hero’s.

Listen up fellas, if you’re finding life difficult to navigate through and you are struggling, then please, do not suffer in silence.

It doesn’t have to be so painful.

We are not offering a magic cure, because unfortunately there isn’t one. What we are offering you is a safe, non judgmental space for you to talk and connect with others and also to try and make sense of whatever it is your are going through right now.

Let’s talk about it.

This time of year can be hectic and fraught with stress, pressures and unrealistic expectations. The reality is no matter how hard we try making everyone happy is an impossible task!

So remind yourself what is relatively speaking within your control or responsibility (your thoughts, actions, time, immediate environment, and how you relate to others), and what isn't (others reactions and the wider world). It therefore makes sense to be selective and focus on what and who is most important to you (which includes yourself!).

Next set or negotiate, then communicate clear and realistic boundaries that reflect these, and most importantly stick to them. You might meet some initial resistance, but if someone pushes against these too hard then this is more evidence of why the boundary was necessary in the first place.

I love this quote from Michael Rosen and think it perfectly illustrates how the obstacles life throws at us create internal conflict, resistance and often avoidance. Retreating can reinforce limiting thoughts and beliefs which perpetuate anxiety. However, the challenge as I see it is to garner as many tools and as much support as possible to help us withstand or even grow in the face of stress or change.

Hi,

The majority of us will at times feel overwhelmed or struggle to cope with our emotions or difficult life events. Talking to those closest to us can help us to process our feelings, but this often has its limitations.

Counselling offers a calm, non-judgmental and dedicated space to work through whatever is troubling you. With the support and expertise of a qualified professional, you can gain valuable insight into your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships. With this deeper understanding you will develop coping strategies and techniques that work for you; unlocking your unique potential, realising your goals, and empowering you to begin life anew.

I recognise how hard it can be to reach out for support when you need it the most and how daunting the prospect of counselling can be, particularly if you are not used to talking about your emotions. I aim to make this as easy as possible, and ensure that you make a choice that suits your needs and feels right.

No matter what you are facing, I will meet you with warmth, compassion and respect, offering you empathy, acceptance and a calm, comfortable space to explore difficult feelings and experiences. I aim to put you at ease, building a genuine rapport so that you can understand yourself and your relationships more fully, and find the best way forward for you.

I counsel adults and young people (aged 11+) from my counselling room in Crookham Village. I am experienced in working with clients from varied backgrounds who are struggling with their mental health and wellbeing for a variety of reasons. I offer both short-term solution focussed therapy and open-ended counselling so that you can work at a pace and depth that suits your needs and goals.

As an integrative therapist I don't believe in a 'one size fits all' approach. Instead I draw from a range of different modalities (humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive, existential, transactional analysis, and physiological), tailoring my approach to suit you. It can be difficult to put distressing experiences, thoughts and emotions into words, so if you are amenable I may employ various creative tools and techniques to aid self-expression, build understanding and explore alternative perspectives (drawing, therapy cards, worksheets, games, mindmaps, family tree, sandtray, mini-figures etc). This can be particularly useful with young people, neuro-diverse clients, and those who struggle to articulate themselves verbally.

Building a trusting relationship is fundamental to the work, so it is really important to find the right person to take this journey with. For this reason I offer a free (no obligation) phone or video call so that we can learn more about each other, you can ask any questions, and we can determine if we are a good fit.

All the best,

Amanda New
