Spotted in this weekend’s Folkestone Foghorn 👀

A little feature with fellow Folkestone massage therapists—so grateful to be included alongside these talented practitioners! ☺️

✨ A small moment to reflect on the journey that led me here, and to launching Calm Folke Therapies in January 2025 ☺️ ✨

P.S. Have a look at the previous page too, featuring the lovely and . I’ve worked with both and can’t recommend them enough!! 🤩

Low back pain can make even resting feel uncomfortable.

So during your massage, we make space for that.

✨ A bolster under your ankles when you’re lying face down, so your lower back isn’t pulling.
✨ A little wiggle of the hips if things start to feel stiff.
✨A pause whenever you need to reset or get comfortable.
✨And time at the end for intuitive movement or stretching—so you’re not going from completely still to straight back into your day.

More support.
More adjustments.
More permission to move.

Because feeling safe and comfortable in your body is part of the treatment too.

When you’re being pulled from one thing to the next - work messages, family commitments, the endless list of things to do- it can feel overwhelming.

This is a space where you can step away for a while.

To rest. To soften. To come back to yourself.

Because you’ve held enough for today

We’re often sold the idea that one stretch, one exercise, or one treatment will fix everything.

And while those things can absolutely help — they’re rarely the whole story.

The body isn’t a problem to solve in a single moment. It’s something that adapts over time, shaped by how you move, rest, and support it day to day.

Real, lasting change tends to come from consistency — not intensity. From returning to the practices that support you, again and again.

And often, it’s not just one approach. It’s a more holistic blend — hands-on work, movement, rest, nervous system support — all working together, each playing a role in how you feel.

Less “quick fix.”

More steady, supported change over time.

Massage is listening with your hands.

It’s a mindful practice — staying present with what’s happening beneath the surface, moment by moment.
Noticing where the body holds on, and where it softens when given time and attention.

Every body speaks differently.
Some are loud with tension and ache. Others whisper through subtle cues: a held breath, a guarded shoulder, a jaw that won’t quite let go.

My role isn’t to fix or force change, but to listen with awareness — and respond thoughtfully.
To meet the body where it is that day, with curiosity, patience, and care.

That’s why no two sessions are ever the same.
Because mindfulness begins with listening.

I wasn’t always a massage therapist or yoga teacher. My last career looked very different — nearly a decade in clinical research, working across the NHS, UCL, and international trials. On the surface, it might not seem connected to hands-on care, but it taught me lessons I carry into every session today.

Working closely with patients — including those with complex needs — I learned the importance of listening, clear communication, and creating a space where people feel seen and understood. Managing complex imaging studies also showed me the value of systems and organisation: when things run smoothly behind the scenes, the focus can stay on the person in front of you.

Bringing these experiences into my massage and yoga practice means that each session is both thoughtful and effortless. Every detail, from booking to intake to the session itself, is designed to let you relax fully and be present.

My goal is for each session to feel clear, considered, and responsive — shaped by years of working with patients where communication, care, and dignity mattered above all.

I’d love to hear from you: which values guide your choice of practitioner or therapist?👇

✨ Group Class Update ✨

I’m back from holiday and have a few updates to the timetable:

🍃 Tuesday Yin is moving to Saturdays at 11:45am.
🍃 Gentle Flow Yoga has evolved into Slow Flow Yoga — a slightly more active, breath-led practice.

If you’ve been thinking about joining a class, now’s a lovely time — more opportunities each week to move, breathe, and reset. I’d love to see you there!

I realise this may be a bit of a long shot as a relatively new business, but supporting wellbeing through massage, yoga, and meditation is something I’m truly passionate about.

If you’ve enjoyed a session with me- from group yoga classes to Deep Relaxation Mini Retreats- I would be so grateful if you’d consider nominating Calm Folke Therapies for Best Wellbeing Specialist in the Muddy Stilettos Awards – Kent 2026.

Your support really does mean so much to a small business like mine.

If you’d like to nominate Calm Folke Therapies, you can do so via the link in my bio 🤍

Thank you for being here and supporting what I do.

✨ Feeling safe and supported starts with knowing what to expect. ✨

Before your session, we’ll go through your intake form together and discuss how the massage will flow—what areas we’ll focus on, the order, and the pace.

This collaborative approach brings predictability, helping you feel comfortable and held throughout. Every touch is guided by your consent, with space to adjust along the way, so your body’s responses are always respected.

💭 How does knowing what to expect change how you feel in new experiences?

💤 Winding Down: My Evening Rituals

Sleep is so important to me — I know I don’t function at my best without it. Getting to sleep is half the battle, so I practice gentle evening routines to signal to my body that it’s time to let go of the day and prepare for rest.

🌙 I dim the lights to a low, warm glow, creating a calm atmosphere
🌖 In the colder months, I enjoy a cup of herbal tea, letting the warmth soothe my body and senses
🌕 I put my phone on sleep mode — you’ll rarely see me responding after 9 pm
✨ And I always spend some quiet time reading a book before bed to relax my mind.

These simple, mindful practices help me transition from the busyness of the day into a calm, restful state.

💭 How do you signal your body that it’s time to rest?

Which area of your body holds tension most? 🤍

For so many people, it’s right here — between the shoulder blades. The rhomboids quietly gripping from long hours at a desk, driving, or simply carrying the weight of the day.

Slow, steady work into this space can bring that “I didn’t realise I needed that” kind of relief — an exhale you didn’t know you were holding.

I’m curious where your body’s been carrying lately.

Neck?
Shoulders?
Lower back?
Jaw?
