Our Counsellors are all trained and qualified, using a Humanistic approach within their practice, as well as working with an integrative approach. This means that there is no single approach that can treat each individual in all situations. We consider each person as a whole when working with them, tailoring our approach to the individuals needs. The Humanistic belief is that everybody has the pot

Self Horizons can offer a safe, confidential space in which to explore some of your issues and untangle thoughts and feelings. We can offer you a space in which to reflect and feel supported, without feeling judged, allowing you to work through any difficulties and find a way to move forward. At our first session we will assess your needs and decide together on how best we can help you. Each session thereafter will usually take place once a week and last for 50 minutes.

Many will be feeling stress, anxiety and uncertainty at this time. Changes to our lifestyles is also having an impact on our mental health. It is quite normal to be feeling this way in such an unpredictable time. Here are some tips that might help you cope with the current climate that we find ourselves in.

Keeping a routine- without routine negative thinking can escalate. What is your plan for the day? Maybe exercising in the morning or taking a walk, cooking a favourite meal or making time each day for relaxation? This can be difficult when working from home or trying to home school, but having some structure around your day will help. Self care is going to be especially important right now. Are you resting enough and eating properly? If we can manage our health, it can make us more robust against anxiety.

Restricting access to news and social media: Using news sources you can trust and limiting the number of times you look each day. We can access news so easily and for many it can be really anxiety provoking. You may decide to limit or completely stop interacting with news.

Keep connected with family and friends: We can't meet up with friends and family like we used to. This new world of social isolation may feel lonely and isolating. Keeping connected with those around us is vital. Whether it is on the telephone or on-line there are ways in which we can stay in touch. You might want to make it fun, introducing new games or cooking the same recipe. It's finding new ways to stay connected.

Keeping a journal- You may want to write down your anxieties or feelings, allowing a space for them to be seen and heard. Acknowledging how you feel is important. This can help us to 'let go' of the feeling. To put it away.

You may feel you want support right now to explore and understand what you are feeling. We are offering on-line and telephone counselling. If you would like to find out more, or would like to book a session, please contact us directly on 0845 8387518 or by email: info@selfhorizons.com
