At Eilean Dubh we celebrated International Women’s Day in a very special way. 🌼

Our lovely residents presented some of our wonderful ladies on the team with a beautiful bunch of daffodils as a thank you for the care, kindness and dedication they show every day.

Such a thoughtful gesture that brought lots of smiles. 🩷

Happy International Women’s Day to all the incredible women in our team 🌻🩷

✨ We were honoured to welcome the incredibly talented Brandon McPhee to perform for us all at Eilean Dubh Care Home. 🎶 ✨
Many of our residents have watched Brandon perform at venues such as Eden Court Theatre over the years, so it was truly special to have him perform here in our home, allowing everyone the opportunity to enjoy his wonderful music together.
We were also delighted to welcome friends from Pittyvaich Care Home, bringing everyone together through music.
Brandon’s talent is truly outstanding and the joy he brought to our residents was clear to see. Thank you Brandon, for such a wonderful and memorable performance. 👏🏼 💙

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Brian Devlin, a tireless campaigner who dedicated himself to improving the lives of others.

He was a passionate supporter of Eilean Dubh and played a key role in bringing the care home to Fortrose. He kept a keen interest in the home’s progress, and his kind messages of support were greatly appreciated by the team.

One of his greatest legacies is Black Isle Cares (BIC), a charity we are proud to support. Brian helped found BIC and became its Chair. For more than a decade, the charity has been a lifeline for older adults and people on the Black Isle who feel isolated or disconnected.

Our condolences go to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed.

We’ve had a wonderful time here at Eilean Dubh Care Home! 🌼

Our residents have been enjoying a wide range of activities, including trishaw outings, baking, painting and even some creative pom-pom making live music and our very popular music quiz and supporting the rugby, There was also a lovely trip out to the shops for Morag, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

It’s been fantastic to see everyone getting involved, having fun and spending time together. Weeks like this remind us how important activities and outings are for keeping spirits high and bringing smiles to our resident’s faces. 😊

This week our Eilean Dubh family said a very sad goodbye to someone who meant so much to us all.

Billy came to live with us when we first opened our doors five years ago, and from that very first day he became such a big part of our home. Billy was truly one of a kind. He had a way of lighting up the room the moment he walked in. His smile, his humour, and his wonderful personality brought so much joy to everyone around him.

Billy was loved dearly by residents, staff and visiting families alike. He always had a story to tell, a joke to share, or a cheeky comment that would leave us all laughing. Life at Eilean Dubh was brighter with Billy in it, and his presence brought warmth, laughter and companionship to so many.

On Wednesday Billy was laid to rest, and it was a very emotional day for us all. While our hearts are heavy, we feel so incredibly lucky to have shared the last five years with such a special man. The memories he gave us will stay with us forever.

Billy brought so much cheer and happiness to Eilean Dubh and he will be deeply missed every single day.

Our thoughts and love are with Billy’s family at this very difficult time. Thank you for sharing him with us — it was a privilege to care for him and to know him. He will always be a very special part of the Eilean Dubh family.

💙 simply The Best💙

Tributes have been paid to a 96-year-old Conon Bridge musician who loved ones say ‘lit up the room’ and was ‘simply the best’.

Our colleague, Leanne Stephen, Manager at Weston View, has shared a deeply personal reflection on the importance of end-of-life care. For Leanne, it’s not just about managing death but about honouring life - offering dignity and compassion for the individual and their loves ones.

'End of life care is not about dying; it’s about living well until the end, making sure no one feels alone or afraid and preserving dignity in every moment.'
