What a truly special day for our ladies! 💙

Today, two of our lovely residents were given a wonderful surprise when they were invited to the Highland Hospice in Inverness to meet the one and only Anton Du Beke

To say they were delighted would be an understatement! Smiles all round and memories made that will be treasured for a long time. Fiona and Toby also had a lovely time meeting him too — such a genuinely kind and charming man.

A huge thank you to Wendy from Highland Hospice for making this happen for our ladies. Your kindness and thoughtfulness meant so much to everyone involved. 💐

We’re delighted to report that the Parklands Colours of Care tartan has been shortlisted for The Great Marketeer Award at next month's Stars of Social Care Awards. 💚

What began at Eilean Dubh as part of Highland Hospice’s HeArt Trail has grown into something truly special, thanks to the creativity and vision of Liz Peck Highland Artist, who developed the idea of a tartan inspired by the colours worn by Parklands staff across different roles.

The tartan, now formally registered, celebrates the teamwork and shared responsibility that sits at the heart of care, and we’re incredibly proud that its story began here at Eilean Dubh.

Today, on International Nurses Day, we want to say thank you to all the nurses across Parklands who care for our residents with skill, compassion and kindness every single day 💙

We also want to recognise the many residents in our homes who once dedicated their own lives to nursing and caring for others. 🩺 🏥

Thank you for everything you do, and everything you have done 🫶

The story of Parklands Care Homes doesn’t begin in 1993 with the opening of our first home in Buckie. It begins in the 1980s, when founder Ron Taylor, then a student, cared for his ailing grandfather.

“I always knew that if I ever got involved in the care business, I would want to make sure that the care I gave him is the same care any of our residents get.”

Read his story here ⬇️

Ron Taylor runs Parklands Care Homes, which operates in the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire.

We’ve had a busy and enjoyable week here at Eilean Dubh 🌿

We loved welcoming Marcia from the High Life Highland Rangers, where residents had great fun guessing animal skulls and learning about local wildlife.

We were also delighted to have the Fiddle Folk come in to play—everyone thoroughly enjoyed the music. A huge thank you to them for their wonderful performance!

To finish the week, we enjoyed a lovely minibus trip around the Black Isle, taking in the beautiful scenery together. 💚
