Spring: a season of rising energy

After the stillness of winter, many of us welcome the arrival of spring — longer days, brighter light, and the simple joy of spotting the first snowdrop and daffodils. Spring invites expression, exploration, and the release of old patterns that no longer serve you. Yet for some, this seasonal shift can feel less easeful.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, spring is associated with upward and outward movement. You see it in nature as sap begins to rise, plants push through the earth, and growth gathers momentum. Your body responds in much the same way, adjusting to this new rhythm of expansion and renewal.

Early spring can bring:
👉Irritability or mood changes
👉Restless or disrupted sleep
👉Neck and shoulder tension
👉Headaches
👉Digestive changes
👉A general sense of feeling unsettled

From a TCM perspective, this is completely natural. Seasonal change requires the body to adapt. As the environment shifts, your internal systems adjust alongside it.

Support your body with Shiatsu
Shiatsu massage supports the smooth movement of Qi and Blood, helping the body adapt to change more gracefully. Many clients find that treatments in early spring:

🌸Reduce tension headaches
🌸Ease shoulder and neck tightness
🌸Improve sleep consistency
🌸Support emotional steadiness
🌸Smooth digestive fluctuations
🌸We’re here to support you

You deserve care that meets you where you are - especially during times of change. If you’d like support this season, you’re welcome to book your session with Sarah, call 07515 684306. 😍

Yin season is not a time to push — it is a time to restore. As the energy of the environment here in the Northern Hemisphere turns inward, so does your body. Energy naturally slows, the nervous system becomes more sensitive, and the call for deep nourishment almost feels impossible to ignore. You have been pushing all year, all season. This is when chronic stress, low energy, and burnout rise to the surface, not as weakness, but as a message to soften.

Yin season asks us to replenish our reserves, through our Kidney season especially. If your body feels depleted, foggy, or worn thin by ongoing stress, book in for a Shiatsu massage to restore and let go of any stress held in the body especially leading up to Christmas.

In the body, Yin season may show up as:
- Increased fatigue or desire for more sleep
- Slower digestion
- Stiffer joints
- Lower motivation
- A need for comfort and warmth
- Greater emotional sensitivity or introspection

🩵 These feelings and symptoms can all be treated through treating the Kidney season with rest and relaxation. Book a treatment for yourself if you feel stressed or overwhelmed.

Our Story

Shiatsu is a hands on traditional Japanese massage therapy and works on the same principles as Acupuncture helping to release blocks that cause us pain within the body. Unlike western style massages, Shiatsu is based on the principle that energy flows like water through the body in a series of pathways called meridians. Sometimes the energy (ki or chi) flow is disrupted and we may experience discomfort such as muscular pain, headaches, digestive disturbances, PMT, menopausal symptoms, swelling, skin irritations, excess mucous, foggy headedness, memory loss, stress, anxiety, irritability and other emotional imbalances. Stress and emotional upset affects the health of our physical body, which affects how well we can deal with daily life. Taking time for a relaxing Shiatsu treatment gives your body an opportunity to release the daily stresses that build up over time.
