WEIGHT LOSS........
as a hairdresser I just wanted to write a little post regarding hair loss.
On average you can lose between 50 and 150 hairs per day naturally, but we don't notice it as new hair is growing at the same time.
Hair loss can happen for a number of reasons this is only regarding hair loss related to weight loss.
When we lose weight quickly our body can force your hair into a resting phase because it is prioritising essential body functions over hair growth.
Restricted diets can also cause hair loss as they can deprive the body of essential nutrients it needs. This is why it is so important to ensure we are eating enough protein,iron,zinc and fatty acids.
Eating a balanced and nutritious diet that includes essential nutrients for hair health (as stated above) can help to support healthy hair. Also avoid cutting out food groups.
The good news is it does grow back and there are things that can help.
Minoxidil is a medical treat that can used for men and women,no prescription is needed and it's sold in many pharmacies it's name is commonly known as Regaine. Vitamin b7 (biotin) can also be taken. But if you have a thyroid problem like me and take medication, you can't take (biotin) because it can stop your thyroid medication from working. so when it comes to vitamins, always check with your Dr if you can take them with your current medication (if you have any) I learnt it the hard way.
Do remember that hair growth is slow and it can take several months before you start to see an improvement in thickness 🤗
