Person centred counselling focuses on three core conditions, unconditional positive regard, congruence and empathic understanding. When these conditions are experienced, a safe space is created where you can feel supported to explore your feelings, and be your authentic self without judgement. This then enables you to make positive changes.

Did you know that blue Monday was made up by a travel company to attempt to sell more holidays! In reality, depression can affect us at any time of the year, not just a random Monday in January.

Support is available if you are struggling.

It isn't always easy to process our feelings, but in time it can become a very healthy habit.

In the counselling room I support you to pause and explore feelings and triggers.
Talking can provide a better understanding of yourself, whilst exploring the many different layers that we hold.

I offer a 15 minute introductory call, where you can ask any questions you may have and discuss your situation further. If you would like to schedule a call please contact me though the counselling directory at www.counsellingdirectory.co.uk

The pressure of the 'new year, new you' can be overwhelming, how about ' I'm doing my best right now' or 'I am enough'

I talk a lot about self care and its importance. We don't have to turn ourselves inside out to be better versions of who we are.

Small steps are what it takes and that can look very different from what social media portrays.

Self care can be starting that book you haven't got to yet, or wrapping up warm and taking a walk, or making a healthy meal. There is no strict routine needed.

If you feel pressured or stressed you can talk this through with a counsellor, exploring all the different layers together and getting the support needed.

The counselling directory is a good place to start, giving you the opportunity to read about the counsellor of your choice and getting in touch.

To all my clients, current and past I wish you all the best for 2026.

As you reflect on the past year, be gentle, reminding yourself that you are enough and you found the strength to get through.

And as always, take the time to love yourself, it's not self indulgence its self preservation.

Be patient with yourself. Shouting at a flower won't make it bloom. 🌺

I was introduced to this quote by a dear friend and it has stayed with me ever since πŸ™

This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man

William Shakespeare, Hamlet, Act 1, Scene 3.

What does this mean to you?

Being kind can boost your self-esteem, happiness, and confidence. Being on the receiving end of kindness makes people feel good, which can be especially helpful for those with mental illness or those going through recovery.
Can you think of an act of kindness that has stayed with you and made you feel good?
