Yoga classes are back again at Fillingham Village Hall this week after my little break…

Had a fabulous training this weekend going deeper into pranayama and healing practices, we will be building towards one of these in our next block where we use the breath to guide the prana to where we need it, can’t wait to share this!

The physical movements will work through the entire body with a focus on opening the lungs to boost our energy through the darker months, and (as requested) to help us focus a little more on pranayama (using the breath to control our energy, or prana) which a systematic review indicates may support our cardiorespiratory health (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7336946/*)

Oooh, and I almost forgot… sessions 1/4/7 will finish with a candle lit yoga nidra, also known as the ‘sleep of the sages’, although not actual sleep (some people do, and that is ok) it is a deeply relaxing practice.

This is not ‘just’ an exercise class. We practice around 60 mins of physical postures and have around 30 mins of breathing and relaxation. Sessions 1, 4, 7 we will finish with a yoga nidra (yogic sleep) to leave you relaxed and restored. Over the last term we have been developing breathing practices a little more and will review and build on these next term.

Adaptations always available and I encourage you to go at your own pace, message me if you are interested but not sure whether it is for you or not.

I have been a little quieter than usual on here recently. On Monday I submitted my final essay, and next Friday I have my final exam to complete my Level 6 diploma in naturopathic nutrition from CNM (so have been flat out writing and revising). Appointments available for nutrition, hypnotherapy and past life regression from January!

7 week block, lovely group and perfect environment for beginners. Although not a dedicated chair class, their use is available and postures can be adjusted, just let me know.

A class involves asana (postures) with some gentle flows, balances, breathwork and relaxation or meditation. My intention is that you stretch in each direction so your nervous system allows you to enter a deep state of relaxation. Options are available within poses to make them more or less challenging if you desire. I will include a Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) at weeks 4 and 7.

Classes are inclusive as far as my knowledge and the practice allows. If you are uncertain if it is for you, please get in touch.

I’m late advertising as this beautiful August has flown by and I have just realised it is September next week! I now have a therapy / tutoring room set up at home, needs some beautification, but is functional, and am closer to finishing my Level 6 Diploma in Naturopathic Nutrition (at long last!). Limited appointments will be available for hypnotherapy, past life regression, naturopathic nutrition and biology tutoring (see my white hart tutoring page) will available from November face to face or online. Look out for introductory offers on the holistics.

Fillingham yogis… I am coming, just lost my keys and now stuck at the level crossing 🤪

After tonight’s yoga class today I’m taking a bigger break than usual, all of August 😃

At the end of September I have a big exam and before then have 2 assignments to finish. I also need time to work on working out how to grow my fledgling business… and I need a rest.

I’ll be officially starting science / biology tutoring (white hart tutoring) from the autumn. So I’m bringing yoga (roughly) into line with the school term.

I’ll post more soon, but so I don’t forget, the next 2 blocks are planned for:

My win today… 4 litres of homemade organic chicken / vegetable broth, all cooling in reused glass jars, no plastic here 💕

Why do I stink the house out to do this? (Adam is not a fan 😂)

Bone broth is a said to be source of minerals (some disagree… lots of veggies help) that we need for a healthy skeletal system. Its a good source of gut friendly glutamine though 😋 (a veggie equivalent would have a cabbage base).

Naturopathic nutrition course is almost done (after a long 4 years!) so I’ll be sharing more little tid bits in future 🥰

To make it I use a chicken carcass (we have 1 a week/fortnight to do this), a few days of left over veggie scraps (not potato or anything too bitter), a dash of Apple cider vinegar, pinch of peppercorns and salt, a couple of herbs, and steamer water. Cover with filtered water, bring to boil and leave to lob for 23 hours. Strain and store. Easy! Perfect base for soups and stews 😋

This week we will be using triangle pose or trikonasana. This pose is said to help you build balance and stability.

We will finish with a pranayama practice and a yoga nidra. If it’s hot, we may focus on cooling breaths instead! The aim is to leave you refreshed and rejuvinated 💕

Yoga for Beginners and Beyond Fillingham Village hall.

This week we will be using Chair Pose or Utkatasana. This pose is said to help you build the strength and resilience. Alternative postures will be offered. It can also be a helpful pose to access from a seated position, rather than from standing standing, especially as we age so that we don’t lose the ability to stand unaided.

We will finish alternate nostril breathing as we expand our pranayama practice. If it’s hot, we may focus on cooling breaths instead! The aim is to leave you refreshed and rejuvinated 💕
