Before welcoming election promises which looks good for grabbing headlines, the root cause of the problem should be addressed.

1. Who will provide care?
2. What do we do with worker shortage?
3. Is packages of care sustainable for providers?
4. Professionalising the care job similar to NMC system will increase the cost dramatically and pushes further shortages. (I am not against the idea)
5. How will source of funding will address hospital crisis? (While the root cause is finding difficulty in placements with the increased care needs)
6. We should move away from agenda of people live longer at home to help move people to right residential placement well before their repeated hospital admissions or resulting in life debilitating conditions because of lack of monitoring.

The party wants to tackle the shortage of workers by introducing a carer's minimum wage, at £2 above the standard.

Tushar Shah is the Co-Founder of Centrum Care Group, which owns five care homes and a Blue Bird care franchise, which is rated as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. Legitimate jokes in social care that we accept:

1. DBS checks: It's like having to buy a ticket to watch a movie that's being broadcasted for free on national TV. "But wait, there's more! Pay extra, and we'll check if you've paid your TV license!"

2. Applying for DOLS: It's like playing bingo where you're not sure if the prize is freedom or just another round of paperwork. And you thought the lottery had bad odds!

3. DBS convictions: Risk assessments in social care are the new 'get out of jail free' cards. "Sure, you've got a history, but this piece of paper says you're practically a saint now."

4. Employment references in care are like tightrope walking without a net. Be honest, and you might fall into a lawsuit. Keep quiet, and you're walking someone else into trouble.

5. Residential care providing nursing without a PIN number is like asking your barista to fill in for your dentist. "I'm not saying your latte won't be great, but do you really trust them with a drill?"

6. Setting care home fees based on a 'cost of care exercise' is like pricing houses by playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Blindfolded, dizzy, and let's face it, that tail's going nowhere near the donkey.

7. The nominated individual's legal liability is like being the designated driver at a party but not being responsible if the car gets a dent. "I was there, but I swear, the lamp post came out of nowhere!"

8. There's no shortage of authorities to inspect care homes, yet a good chunk still don't meet the basics. It's like having a gym membership and still not being able to do a single push-up. "But I go there... sometimes!"
