🚨Mounjaro Supply Update 🚨

We are currently experiencing a shortage of Mounjaro injections across various doses. This is a national shortage caused by increased demand, and not unique to our location.
We are in active conversations with distributors and will keep patients individually updated if there are any issues with their prescriptions.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

📣 Diabetes Prevention Sessions Coming to Gilberdyke Health Centre!
We’re excited to announce that Gilberdyke patients can now access the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP) right here at the surgery! For a long time, local residents have faced challenges accessing this service due to poor transport links and limited digital access. We're proud to share that we've worked closely with Xyla (the national NDPP provider) to make this support available in-person at our surgery.
🔹 Have you ever been told you have pre-diabetes?
If your HbA1c level has ever been between 42 and 47, you may be eligible to take part.
📅 We’ll be holding two patient information sessions at the surgery on:
• Monday 8th September
• Monday 22nd September
These sessions will help you understand what the programme involves and how it can support your health.
Sign-up Options:
You can sign up directly at the surgery, and with your consent, we can send you reminder emails. Contact us on 01430 440225 to book a place at one of the information sessions.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take control of your health and reduce your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
Please share this with family or friends in Gilberdyke who might benefit.

Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) – Important Update for Patients
You may have seen news reports today saying that Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is now available from GPs for weight loss. We’d like to clarify what this means for our patients in Humber and North Yorkshire.
Tirzepatide is not currently available from GP practices for weight loss only on the NHS anywhere in our region.
⛔️ Please do not contact your GP to request it for weight loss at this time. We will update patients as soon as it becomes available.
💊 What about for type 2 diabetes?
Tirzepatide may be prescribed for some patients with type 2 diabetes, but only under strict NHS criteria, including:
• HbA1c 53 or above
• Already on or intolerant to multiple diabetes medications (e.g. metformin and an SGLT2 inhibitor such as dapagliflozin or empagliflozin)
If you think you may qualify, please book a routine appointment with our diabetes team.
🔄 Why isn’t it available for weight loss yet?
The NHS needs time to:
• Safely introduce this new service
• Train healthcare staff
• Manage very high levels of demand
A staged rollout via a commissioned specialist weight management service is planned. This will allow patients with the greatest clinical need to be prioritised first and ensures the service can be delivered safely and sustainably.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The NHS provides a wide range of advice and tools to support healthy weight loss. We understand that many people are looking for support in managing their weight and so we’re working hard to improve access to services and new treatments for people living with obesity.
