We aim to breed,quality,registered,friendly ponies(and a few mini donkeys) for the show ring,therapy work,pets,companions and just purely to enjoy.

Back to a more normal post today after yesterday’s fun and I’m delighted to receive reports on Shallochmill Sherbet’s showing debut.
Sailing across to Ireland in November Sherbet went to join his cousin Shallochmill Yogi B.
Yogi won almost everything he entered last year but Sherbet has decided he’s going to try his hardest to keep up starting by winning reserve champion on his first time out at the Northern Ireland Spring Championships
By champion stallion Jambarrie Loan Ranger out of Shallochmill Pic N Mix(Eiger Bertie) this young man is one to keep an eye on.

I’m very excited to announce on this fresh first day of April the arrival of the first ever set of triplets here at Shalloch Mill.
Shallochmill Pic N Mix certainly gave us a selection with a beautiful bay c**t by Chacco Blue, a blue roan filly by Kerswell Sprite and a cremello filly that we presume is by Jambarrie Lion King.
Happy days 🐴 🐴 🐴.

This young man will be put forward for his licensing in the spring when he’s a bit more mature. Ferinfield Hendrix,by Halstock Yahoo out of show champion Stranduff Kindred Spirit, is also clear for SA, an unusual dilute black roan and should measure about 31”.
He and Cracker will have an easy summer then hopefully have a mare or two each in 2027.
I never used to be a fan of roan ponies but I seem to keep collecting them. This is the third dilute black roan I have and I still love watching the colour changes throughout the year.

Today I had one of my young boys forward for his voluntary vetting examination and I’m very pleased to say that Birchwood Cream Cracker passed with flying colours. Once the dna results are complete he will now become a fully licensed stallion.
Bred by Kim Richards by her stallion Birchwood Aztec Gold out of Doonpark Jatara(Pinglewood Gold Star), Cracker is tested free of skeletal atavism, colour tested as perlino homozygous tobiano and measured at 31”.
Cracker has a fabulous personality, plenty of bone, a neat little head, moves beautifully and should throw some interesting colours.
I don’t have any pics from today because just now he’s identifying as a mud monster but here’s a few from the only show he attended last year.

What’s more appropriate on Valentine’s Day than showing off our potential fathers-to-be…..
First up, the gorgeous, cuddly Jambarrie Luigi. Blue dun roan by Kerswell Smokey, Luigi, a winner himself already has champion youngstock on the ground.
Jambarrie Loan Ranger by Kerswell Maple, skewbald champion boy who sneaks away from the other boys to get his own human hugs. His only two offspring to have been in the ring have won their classes.
Timberland Limited Edition aka Ed, blue dun roan and white by Kerswell Nutcracker has had a sheltered life living with a friend but is as handsome as the others. He’s a shy boy but he loves a fuss and he knows he’s extra handsome.
Jambarrie Lion King aka Lionel, buckskin dun has only shown once but was junior champ and reserve supreme. A happy boy he just adores people. He tries to act like a tough guy until he knows hugs are on the go. Last year was his first season out with the girls so I can’t wait to see what he has.
And of course last but definitely not least is my old gentleman Kerswell Sprite. He has bred plenty of champions in his time and whilst he comes across a bit aloof if you speak to him when he’s on his own he snuggles in and comes back for more. He’s especially good at baby sitting usually being spotted surrounded by foals in the summer.
All the boys are tested SA clear ⭐️
Foaling won’t start until mid April but that’s not looking so far away now.

We’re halfway through January, the nights are getting lighter and spring doesn’t seem so far away now.
It’s a fairly quiet time of year just keeping an eye on everyone.
Today was routine Spot On, worming, new mineral blocks and a new bale for these girls.
They may be soaking wet but they have the luxury of some hard standing, plenty of grub and plenty of grazing left.
P.S.Does anyone know if moxidectin is safe for human consumption ? Asking for a ‘friend’ 🤮😜

To all the friends, followers, customers and supporters of Shallochmill Stud I’d just like to say a great big thank you 😘
2025 was filled with fun starting off with five healthy foals arriving safely, ponies left the Mill to new homes in Wales, England, Ireland and Shetland and previous graduates were out winning flying the flag for Shallochmill.
I ventured out to a few shows where the ponies did me proud including winning strong classes and a junior championship at the Royal Highland show.
Sprites youngstock continue to do well in the show ring but it’s pleasing to see younger boys Luigi and Ranger having babies out collecting red rosettes now too.
With five stallions working in the summer the 2026 foaling season is going to be an interesting one with hopefully some more future champions 🤞🏼
And let’s not forget the two mini donkey foals born later in the year. A pair of mischief makers one has already nearly broken the internet with his video going viral being viewed over 21 million times. Mental.
The ponies continue to gain admirers who adore their personalities with very few, if any, visitors heading home without becoming addicted.
I do hope everyone enjoys the photos and videos I post showing the ponies in their natural states and the antics they get up to.
I thoroughly enjoy these little people and I hope you all do too.

Loving the dry spell and still doing well on just grass and a mineral block the more mature girls are thriving. I’m starting to see some definite foal tummies which means there’s only a few months to go until foaling time. Fingers crossed we don’t have too much of a harsh winter for the remainder 🤞🏼
