🌍🚲 Choosing a bike isn’t just good for you — it’s good for everyone.

Every short journey you make by bike instead of by car helps cut carbon emissions by up to 75%. That means cleaner air, healthier communities, and a step towards a more sustainable future. 🌱

But the benefits don’t stop there. Cycling is one of the easiest ways to build fitness, improve heart health, and save money on everyday travel costs all while reducing congestion on local roads.

Here’s why active travel is a win-win:
1️⃣ Cycling short trips cuts carbon emissions by up to 75%
2️⃣ Saves money on fuel, parking, and travel costs
3️⃣ Improves heart health, fitness, and overall wellbeing
4️⃣ Reduces congestion in cities and towns
5️⃣ Cleaner air and healthier communities for everyone

At Sunny Cycles, we’re proud to help people of all ages and abilities take up cycling from Learn to Ride sessions to adapted bikes that make active travel possible for everyone. 💛

🚴‍♀️💛 Cycling is for everyone — and that’s exactly what we believe at Sunny Cycles.

Too often, people are excluded from cycling because of ability, confidence, or access to equipment. That’s where inclusive cycling makes the difference.

Through adapted bikes, patient instructors, and a welcoming community, we make sure no one is left behind — whether it’s someone learning to ride for the very first time, or a rider with a disability discovering freedom on a trike or side-by-side bike.

Here’s why inclusive cycling matters:
1️⃣ Builds confidence and independence, no matter your age or ability
2️⃣ Adapted bikes open doors for people with disabilities
3️⃣ Skills training helps riders feel safer and more capable
4️⃣ Community rides create belonging and friendship
5️⃣ Everyone deserves the chance to feel the joy of cycling

🌟 Every week we see new faces light up with confidence and returning riders grow stronger. Inclusive cycling isn’t just about bikes — it’s about freedom, wellbeing, and connection.

Another round up of photos. Not only are we showing people how to get around the city using the network of cycle paths, we are seeing people increase their activity going from riding once a week to twice a week, then twice a week to three times a week, joining events, using their bike more. It's not always with us for the extra rides, and thats fine, the main thing is people are cycling more. It's lovely to hear about people getting new bikes, refurbished bikes, getting their bike storage sorted out and encouraging others to get on their bikes!

💬 “I’ve gained cycling proficiency, safety awareness, and confidence.”

Cycling is more than pedalling, it’s about lifelong skills. 🚴‍♀️💡

Our rides help people build confidence on the road, learn new routes, and ride with a sense of independence and safety.

These skills go far beyond the bike, they open doors to wellbeing, freedom, and community connection.

Our project is made possible thanks to players! We are delighted to have received Awards for All funding to support our inclusive cycling programme. Our group from OPEKA are delighted about this, as they have incorporated cycling into their regular routine, and they love cycling! There is nowhere else they can go to do this activity, that has bikes to suit their individual needs and the support to help them develop their cycling skills. We will be able to expand on our work to continue working with established groups and to work with new partners over the next year.

🚲✨ Cycling is more than just exercise — it’s a boost for your mind.

Research shows that regular cycling can reduce stress by up to 40%, improve sleep, and lift your mood through the release of endorphins. 🌿💛

At Sunny Cycles, we see this every week. Riders tell us that low moods lift as soon as they get pedalling, especially on our group rides where connection and laughter are just as important as the miles.

Here are 5 ways cycling supports your mental health:
1️⃣ Reduces stress and lowers anxiety
2️⃣ Boosts endorphins for a happier mood
3️⃣ Clears your head with movement and fresh air
4️⃣ Builds social connection through group rides
5️⃣ Improves sleep quality and rest

💬 Whether you’re joining us for the first time, or you’ve been riding for years, remember: every spin of the pedals is a step towards better wellbeing.
