I remain broken! My mother’s love for me was something that I CAN explain! It was made of deep devotions, of sacrifice and pain. It was endless, unselfish and enduring. God cannot be everywhere, so therefore he made my mother.

She was like a true nature who always knew only to give, not taking back anything in return. We see her from the first moment of our life and “mom” is the first word we speak. My mother may be an ordinary person for others. But to me she was a true fighter and a precious person in my life. Today what I am, and where I am, it is only because of her sacrifices, her constant support and guidance.

She is the one who taught me to become fearless. Fearless in asking something which is your right. Fearless in asking why Black Lives Matter! Fearless in asking for clarification and simultaneously putting your points forward even to those who are at superior to me. She imbibed in me those values which not only helps me in my difficult situation but also my sound surroundings and peers. Her wish and also determination to see me as a successful person with a successful career, inspired me to do well every time. The biggest learning I got from her is, “unless and until you fall, you will not be able to get up. And this time more strongly.”

I know I cannot I repay her back. I cannot repay for the things she has done for me, nor for the sacrifices has she made for me. But yes, as her only son, I need to know that I did everything possible to make her happy, when others did not.

My mother, Shirley Black, once said - “The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.” A luta continua my son - make me proud!

My heartfelt thank you to everyone who has sent such lovely messages of support and love! This is much appreciated.

Finally, I extend my thanks, gratitude and love to those who comforted her during her final hours. Rachel Taute, Christel Taute, Chris Taute, Landi and Molly, I thank you from the very bottom of my heart for your unwavering and unconditional love your showed my mum!

We are now well settled as a group! The relevant legislation which has to be mentioned is done! To ensure the safety and protection of all, please do not mention names when chatting; that’s it! You can chat about everything else! If in doubt ask me first! So I would like to start this stream about Riversdale!
The old age home in Riversdale! I will start this as a podcast too with some episodes of phone in and comment! Remember- your voice needs to be heard!

Care workers need representation in both the private and public sector in South Africa. NEHAWU was founded on 27th and 28th June 1987 by workers from the Education, Health, Government and Social Welfare sectors. The Union is affiliated to COSATU - Congress of South African Trade Unions, which is the biggest federation in the country with over 1.9 million members.
NEHAWU struggles for union recognition, a living wage and a free and democratic South Africa. NEHAWU members faced brutal repression from the apartheid regime which saw the union as a direct challenge to its control of the public service. In other sectors, bitter struggles were fought against employers with reactionary practices like the Lifecare Group, Clinic Holdings, various old age homes, universities and technikons.
