So today feels like the right day — the day I’ve put on hold for so long through procrastination, prioritisation, and nerves.

I’m finally ready to share the name I’ve chosen for my yoga business: Become One. This name reflects exactly how yoga makes me feel — those moments of silence, breath, movement, and presence where everything comes together and I feel whole.

It’s taken almost four years, but I’ve finally found a name that represents my journey and what I want to offer in my classes: a moment of peace, calm, and a space where you can Become One.

Our daily lives have us rushing around being everything for everyone — parent, partner, co‑worker, child — the list goes on. In my classes, I hope to give you a space to simply be you, to reconnect, and to Become One with yourself.

Like many of you, I’m a full‑time working mum to two children, with a husband who works away a lot. Life is busy.

I started yoga over 10 years ago on the recommendation of my doctor because I was stressed. I was lucky — a teacher came into our workplace twice a week during lunch, an Ashtanga class: strong, powerful, and intense. Thankfully I was a regular at the gym, so I managed, but I watched many people try once and never return. I, however, loved the challenge. I soon felt the benefits — not just in my body, but in my mind.

I was hooked. I loved how it made me feel: fitter, more flexible, calmer, clearer, less reactive. My work life improved. My thinking sharpened. The fog lifted.

I wanted to share that feeling with others.

One day I saw a poster in my daughter’s nursery — a yoga teacher training course. It felt like a sign, so I signed up immediately.

My teacher was a Kundalini teacher, a completely different style from what I knew. I loved it and threw myself into the study. I learned the history, explored different styles, and felt deeply connected to the practice.

But just before the course began, during a yoga class, my knee went. A ripping sensation, instant swelling, excruciating pain. The doctor said it was just a pulled muscle, so I rested when I could — but as a busy working mum, I kept going. My knee got worse. painkillers barely touched it.

When it came to my final assessment, I couldn’t do it, the pain was unbearable. I was emotional, overwhelmed, and I remember bursting into tears in front of my class. I thought my dream was over.

During COVID, my teacher reached out and offered me the chance to redo the course online. At first, I didn’t think it was possible — the pain was still severe — but something in me knew I had to try. I wanted to share what yoga had given me. And I passed. I was over the moon… but then came the question: what now?

As part of the course, we had to create a page. I panicked about the name and chose Yoga Burns — my maiden name, a tribute to my family.

But behind the scenes, I was struggling. My injury was worsening. I was using crutches. My grandparents’ health was declining. We were in the middle of a pandemic. I felt helpless — but I could still practise in a limited way.

That’s when the idea came: chair yoga. I was using a chair for support, balance, and control, and it helped me rebuild strength. So I created a chair yoga class — something accessible, gentle, and supportive — and it allowed me to share yoga in a way that honoured where I was.

Working from home gave me the flexibility to run classes around my job. It felt like a dream.

Over the years, I continued to struggle with pain. Nine years after my initial injury — after countless physio sessions and steroid injections (which had to stop due to bone deterioration) — I was finally seen properly by the NHS. Investigative surgery revealed a torn cartilage, torn cruciate ligament, meniscal damage, and infected tissue trapped under my kneecap. My poor knee.

They sorted me out, and my knee is finally on the mend. But I’m left with the aftermath: hip and foot pain from years of instability, a limp that affects my back and shoulder, and an imbalance throughout my body.

This has shaped the foundations of my yoga classes — sharing what works for me, as I navigate through life, helping bring alignment back into the body, easing pain, supporting myself through menopause and rebuilding strength.

And the most valuable lesson of all — the one I wish I’d learned at the start: to listen to my body, rest when needed, pushing when needed, to take time for Me. 🙏❤️

Become One Yoga. A new name. A new chapter. The same heart, the same intention.

Today I’m so excited to share the new name and branding for my yoga business. Become One reflects everything yoga has given me — presence, peace, alignment, and a moment to reconnect with myself.

I can’t wait to continue sharing this journey with you under this new name. Thank you for being here with me as I grow, learn, and Become One.

More to come soon…
