After 25 years of working within the Practice Dr Jacqueline McLoone will be retiring on 29th August 2024. She has been a valued member of the team at Abbey Medical Centre and will be missed dearly. She would like to pass on her well wishes to all her patients for the future and is looking forward to a long and happy retirement.

In view of Dr McLoone’s retirement we have a new GP Partner starting with the Practice as of 2nd September. Dr Brian Maybin has been a locum with the Practice in recent months and may already be known to some patients. He was successful in securing the post of GP Partner earlier this year and we look forward to him starting.

If you have changed your name or address and not informed your GP then please do not make a referral using this method until the GP has updated their system, please note you will also need your CHI Number.

ggcspa is an NHS service providing a single point of access for all maternity referrals in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The aim is to make sure you have access to the right care from day one. ggcspa will triage your referral based on the information you provide and the hospital will contact you to start your antenatal care. In the meantime if you are worried about your pregnancy, please tell your GP straight away.

Alternatively you can contact the Maternity Booking Line on 0141 347 8422 If you have a GP within Lanarkshire please call the Maternity Booking Line directly. You may receive a call from 0141 232 4000 if we need more information regarding your referral.

Due to an essential IT upgrade Abbey Medical Centre will be operating on strictly emergencies only on Wednesday 19th April. We will not have computer access therefore cannot access medical records or print prescriptions. We will not be offering same day appointments unless your illness is a medical emergency. We will resume as normal on Thursday 20th April.
